That's what Secretary of State Marco Rubio was saying after Cuban soldiers opened fire on a boat in Cuban waters, killing four people and wounding six others. Cuba says the boat was registered in Florida and was carrying Cubans living in the U.S. who were trying to infiltrate the island and unleash terrorism.
It is highly unusual to see shootouts. an open sea like that. It's not something that happens every day. It's something, frankly, that hasn't happened with Cuba in a very long time. Cuba's government says the majority of those on the boat have a known history of criminal and violent activity, but Secretary Rubio says the U.S. will conduct its own investigation.
Talks set to resume tomorrow in Geneva between Iran and the U.S. Secretary Rubio says they'll largely be focused on Iran's nuclear program. Vice President J.D. Vance says the Trump administration is pausing some Medicaid funding to Minnesota over fraud concerns. We're allowing a few bad actors to get rich off that generosity of spirit instead of providing the services to the kids who need it.
This is disgraceful. Vance May, the announcement saying that they're taking the action to ensure the state of Minnesota takes its obligations seriously. A former Air Force pilot accused of helping the Chinese military. Former U.S. Air Force officer and pilot Gerald Eddie Brown Jr.
is charged with providing and conspiring to provide defense services to Chinese military pilots without authorization, a violation of the Arms Export Control Act. The Department of Justice revealing the 65-year-old who left active duty in 1996 with the rank of major was arrested in Indiana.
The complaint alleges around August of 2023, Brown willfully conspired with foreign nationals to provide combat aircraft training to pilots in the Chinese Air Force traveling to China to do so in December of 2020. Lawyers for Sean Higgins are asking for charges against their client to be dismissed based on new blood alcohol evidence. Higgins is charged with two counts each of reckless vehicular homicide and aggravated manslaughter in the deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. Police say Higgins was drunk when he hit the brothers as they rode their bikes in August 2024.
During a virtual court hearing on Tuesday, Higgins' defense team argued that a new toxicology report showing a blood alcohol level below the legal limit should affect the charges their client faces. Johnny Gaudreau played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Gaudreau family was honored on the ice following Team USA's Olympic hockey gold medal win. Tanya J. Powers, Fox News.
