Operation Epic Fury continues. I'm Ted Lindner, Fox News. Two Israelis killed by Iranian strikes. Fox's Mike Tobin with the details from Tel Aviv. This cluster bomb came in a missile fired by Iran. They hit the ground, they hit a rail station, and two people died of severe shrapnel wounds.
Chapter 2: How did recent Iranian strikes impact Israel?
Now, this came after Israel killed Ali Larajani, also killed by Israel, Golan Mareza Soleimani. He was the head of the plainclothes militia, the Besiege Force, that put down the popular uprising in January. Meantime, in the north of Israel, the Jewish state has been peppered by dozens of rockets throughout the day. Israel has now put a force inside the border with Lebanon.
They're in defensive positions now, but that could change to offensive to stop the rocket fire. Iran's president says his country won't surrender and vowed to take revenge for killing Larajani. A top Trump administration official resigning over the military operation in Iran. Joe Kent is out as director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
Writing in a statement, Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation. President Trump said he doesn't want anyone working for him that doesn't consider Iran a threat. And Senate Republicans have cleared a hurdle to move forward with the so-called Save America Act, allowing the bill to be debated on the Senate floor. The bill will require a valid ID to cast a ballot. Democrats are against it.
It passed 51 to 48, largely along party lines. Most Republicans voted yes. There was one GOP no vote. That was Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina did not vote. And then every Democrat senator voted against it. Senate Majority Leader John Thune says Democrats are being total hypocrites for opposing voter ID and calling it Jim Crow 2.0.
He says they should look at their own track record. Even the Democrats who are complaining loudly about this require a photo ID to get into the Democrat National Convention. But Senate Democrats say this is all a waste of time because the Save America Act will never reach the 60-vote threshold. Fox's Bill Malusian. America's listening to Fox News. The lightning mapper said that it was 13 different lightning flashes, but we know it was a meteor that was exploding in the atmosphere.
