Chapter 1: What are the latest updates on the partial government shutdown?
House Speaker confident the partial government shutdown will soon end. I'm Sue Guzman, Fox News. Well, the partial government shutdown that went into effect early Saturday is now expected to last until at least Tuesday. Members of the House of Representatives return to work Monday to start negotiations ahead of a planned vote Tuesday.
Partial shutdown the result of a dispute over funding for the DHS in the aftermath of anti-ice protester Alex Prady's death in Minnesota. Fox's Chad Pergram tells us what Democrats are hoping is included in the measure. They demand specific policy changes about masks and ID for ICE agents. Before, they'll vote yes.
The House GOP margin shrinks to 218 to 214 after it swears in Texas Democrat Christian Menefee. He just won a special election Saturday. The tight margin, coupled with Democratic opposition, means the GOP majority must use a slower process to pass the bill, maybe Tuesday. But some Republicans oppose Democrats getting their way. Republicans will not bow to Democratic demands about ICE.
The current bill only funds the DHS for two weeks. Republicans warning Democrats that the military, ICE, CBP and TSA agents could go without pay if no agreement is reached. The South's dealing with record cold temperatures. More from Fox's Jay Menard. You need such an extremely cold air mass to turn up some Gulf effect snow bands. Just enough energy to get some flakes flying.
15 reports as far south as Fort Myers. Myers. Now, none of this snow stuck to the ground. It is continuing to sink south. Daytona Beach, record morning low at 23 degrees, smashed the old record to the 1930s. We had an observed morning low of 35 degrees in Miami, the coldest temperature in 16 years. Well, we could get down to 35 yet again. Coastal areas saw snow flurries in Florida this weekend.

This comes as President Trump confirms Iran is negotiating with the U.S., but he says he's still not ruling out any strikes on the region. Fox's Dana Marie McNichol has more. He said, hey, I can't tell you that information, but a deal with Iran is being discussed. You could make a negotiated deal that would be satisfactory with no nuclear weapons.
They said they should do that, but I don't know that they will. But they are talking to us, seriously talking to us. As the president is weighing his military options, widespread protests and violence continue in Iran. Trump has made it clear that military planning is happening, confirming last night that ships are heading in that direction.
He told Fox News' Jackie Heinrich that the fleet is even bigger than what is currently being stationed in Venezuela. Iran's parliament speaker says Tehran now considers European Union militaries to be terrorist groups after the bloc labeled Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. President Trump has nominated Kevin Marsh to take over as Fed Reserve chairman.
National Economic Council director Kevin Hassett says he is the right person for the job. He's a very independent, data-driven person. The president believes that if you are data-driven and not partisan, he thinks the Fed has been partisan, that rates could be a lot lower. And I think that Warsh agrees with that, and I agree with that. President Trump nominating Kevin Warsh.
And speaking on Truth Social, President Trump says he has no doubt that Warsh will go down as a great Fed chairman, perhaps the best. And Billie Eilish winning Song of the Year for Wildflower at the 2026 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Director Steven Spielberg walking away with a Grammy for producing the music by John Williams documentary, becoming an EGOT winner.
Best vocals, best pop vocals going to Lady Gaga for Mayhem and best country duo Mayhem. Group performance went to Shaboosie and Jelly Roll for Amen. I'm Sue Guzman. This is...
