Chapter 1: What happened during the shooting at Mar-a-Lago?
A deadly shooting at Mar-a-Lago. This is a Fox News Alert. I'm Kathleen Maloney. According to the Secret Service, law enforcement shot and killed a man who they say was trying to enter President Trump's Florida resort early this morning. Miami Field Office Special Agent in Charge Rafael Barros says the suspect was armed.
Preliminary information indicates that the individual was armed with a shotgun and a possession of a gasoline canister. President Trump was not at Mar-a-Lago at the time and no police or agents were hurt. The incident, including the individual's background and potential motive, are under investigation by the FBI.
The Northeast is bracing for a monster storm that could bring even more snow and strong winds than that Arctic blast in January. Fox Weather's Adam Klotz. Blizzard warning stretching down along the coast of New Jersey and then getting up through New York City. The first time New York City has been under a blizzard warning since March of 2017.
It is really an all-day type of event running through your Sunday into Sunday night, Monday by midday. And there's still heavy snow along the I-95 corridor, really clearing off in the afternoon, the evening hours. And some of these totals are getting almost hard to believe, 18 to 24 inches, getting in the two to three foot range.
Now, those are very isolated areas where you're going to see that much snowfall. But it's possible out there. On top of that, the winds are a real issue. 50, 60 miles an hour. That is going to get rid of visibility. It's going to bring down a lot of power lines. And we're just getting word now that Broadway shows in New York City will go dark tonight because of that storm.
The United States is on top of the hockey world for the first time in nearly a half century. Jack Hughes scored the game-winning goal in overtime. This is the first gold medal for the men's hockey since the miracle on ice in 1980. The score was 2-1 in overtime. President Trump congratulated the team on Truth Social.
