Another Iranian official taken out. I'm Ted Lindner, Fox News. The third official killed in two days in Israeli airstrikes. This time it was the intelligence minister and Iran's firing back. Fox's Mike Tobin has more from Tel Aviv. As Iran retaliates, neighborhoods near Tel Aviv burned. Last night, at least two cluster bombs were fired into Israel by Iranian missiles.
They break up into dozens of bomblets, which are making it past the air defenses. Last night, after midnight local time, A cluster bomb hit several neighborhoods around Tel Aviv. Two people, 70 years old, were hit by shrapnel when a bomblet hit their apartment and they were killed.
Iran's state media releasing a second written statement said to be from the new supreme leader, Mujtaba Khamenei, vowing vengeance for the killing of Iran's security chief. The Wall Street Journal reporting President Trump wants no more strikes on Iranian energy sites after Israel's attack on a gas field that's vital to Iran.
The Journal reports the president could once again be open to targeting those sites depending on Tehran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz over the next few days. That according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
Chapter 2: How is Iran responding to the recent Israeli airstrikes?
Earlier on Wednesday, President Trump attended the dignified transfer for the six U.S. service members who were killed in the crash of a refueling tanker plane in Iraq. And GOP Senator Mark Wayne Mullen, President Trump's nominee to be Homeland Security Secretary, in the hot seat on Wednesday, appearing at a Senate confirmation hearing.
Senator Mullen criticized Democrats for not agreeing to funding for Homeland Security until changes are made in how ICE enforces immigration. Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, is reportedly under FBI investigation over a potential information leak.
Chapter 3: What is the political context surrounding President Trump's stance on Iran?
According to Semaphore, FBI is investigating Kent for potentially sharing classified info, and the probe reportedly predates Kent's resignation. Kent announced his departure on Tuesday. In a letter published online, Kent expressed disapproval of the war in Iran and insisted that the country posed no imminent threat to the United States.
The Trump administration in response has maintained that there was a threat. Japan's prime minister meeting President Trump in Washington today. Sane Takeuchi won a landslide election last month. She's known for her conservative politics, forthright views and won the endorsement of President Trump. Strong, powerful and wise were the president's words.
Their relationship is being tested, however, by the war in Iran. He's asked for Japanese minesweepers and navy forces to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Prime Minister Takeuchi has declined and appears to have Japanese public opinion on her side. Japan, though, relies on US forces, that includes about 50,000 US troops, to deter threats from China and North Korea. Jonathan Savage, Fox News.
The fight against the wildfires in Nebraska dragging into a seventh day as winds have died down. Firefighters are battling the infernos in western and central Nebraska, including one that's the largest in state history.

They've scorched a massive area of range and grassland and killed at least one person. Four separate fires have burned around 1,300 square miles. It's larger than the state of Rhode Island. And gas prices up for an 18 straight day, climbing every day since the start of the war with Iran. As oil prices surge, AAA's national average is $3.84 a gallon, up 5 cents overnight.
It's a jump of 26 cents in a week. That's nearly $1 higher than a month ago. Crude prices also jumped Wednesday after Israel attacked the gas field in Iran. Brent crude closed at $107.38 a barrel. U.S.
