North Carolina is seeing its biggest snow in more than 20 years. More than a foot has fallen in some places. Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia are also now blanketed in snow. So far, more than 6,000 flights across the country have been delayed or canceled. About 190,000 people, mostly in the southeast, are still without power.
The system will move up the east coast and could bring several inches of snow to Cape Cod. More Arctic air will move in behind the system. Fox Weather is reporting at least 35 million people are under winter weather alerts. 150 million people plus are under cold weather alerts. Anti-ice protests continued Saturday in Minneapolis despite sub-freezing temperatures.
Fox's Brooke Taylor reports from Minneapolis. Yesterday protesters had what they called this national shutdown day telling people don't show up to work, don't go to school or go shopping so that people could strike and protest. Now earlier today anti-ice protesters they also staged sit ends in about 19 Target stores across the Twin Cities.
These protesters were calling the Minneapolis-based retailer to speak out against ICE. Borders are Tom Holman says he's going to draw down the number of ICE agents on the streets if local and state jails could cooperate with ICE detainers, meaning that they'll notify ICE before they release any criminal illegal migrants back into communities. An anti-ice protest also held Saturday in Los Angeles.
