A powerful and rare winter storm is slamming the southeast with heavy snow, hurricane force winds and brutal cold. It will eventually strengthen into what's known as a bomb cyclone.

North Carolina is seeing its biggest snow in more than 20 years. More than a foot has fallen in some places. Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia are also now blanketed in snow. So far, more than 6,000 flights across the country have been delayed or canceled. About 190,000 people, mostly in the southeast, are still without power.

Yesterday protesters had what they called this national shutdown day telling people don't show up to work, don't go to school or go shopping so that people could strike and protest. Now earlier today anti-ice protesters they also staged sit ends in about 19 Target stores across the Twin Cities.

These protesters were calling the Minneapolis-based retailer to speak out against ICE. Borders are Tom Holman says he's going to draw down the number of ICE agents on the streets if local and state jails could cooperate with ICE detainers, meaning that they'll notify ICE before they release any criminal illegal migrants back into communities. An anti-ice protest also held Saturday in Los Angeles.
