or using the term kidnapping. That is a choice that is made. There are actions and consequences that come from those choices. And also we have a reported plane crash going on in Maine at this hour. Small plane crashing during takeoff at Maine's Bangor Airport. FAA says there were eight people on board. They did not disclose their condition.
The airport is closed and the public has urged to avoid the area. And 88-year-old congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents Washington, D.C., is leaving office, ending her re-election bid. Norton is a veteran of the civil rights movement, has held that non-voting congressional seat for 35 years. Her re-election campaign filing a termination report with the FEC Sunday.

Wild winter weather continuing to pummel a good portion of the United States this morning. And while the bulk of the accumulation has already occurred in many places, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrissey says many customers risk losing power as the temps drop overnight. Water on the trees. and on the power lines.
And as the weather gets a little bit colder tonight and freezes, that's where we have some concern. So we're monitoring very closely. We're trying to make sure that we're clearing up everything that we can before the next round comes and the water on the road freezes. New York LaGuardia Airport was closed for much of Sunday.
Nearly 11,500 flights were canceled because of the snow and ice in New York City. Arizona Mom Donnie said five people died in the extreme weather. Fox Weather's Robert Ray has more. Times Square, as it is loaded with snow. Residents and tourists alike making their way through. Cars moving very slowly. Taxis are still out. Well over seven inches has already been fallen at Central Park.
And the snow, unfortunately, is turning into a bit of a sleety mess as well, which is going to cause a lot of slick scenarios. The city of New York and the five boroughs with nearly 3,000 snow excavating pieces of equipment. Just remarkable workers working overtime. 19,000 lane miles of roadways to try and clear LaGuardia Airport shut down at this point.
