The near total closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil transit routes, has contributed to a global rise in the price of oil. Iran, meanwhile, has continued attacks around the region. Cluster warheads were used in Tel Aviv, Israel, where a man and a woman in their 70s were killed. Jonathan Savage, Fox News.
Several NATO countries rejecting President Trump's calls to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz to help protect oil tankers passing through. President Trump reacting to that. NATO's making a very foolish mistake. And I've long said that I wonder whether or not NATO would ever be there for us. So this was a great test.
This is a Trump-appointed top counterterrorism official resign over the war in Iran. Joe Kent has resigned as director of the National Counterterrorism Center after claiming that he believed Iran posed no imminent threat to the U.S. and that the war was started due to pressure from Israel. and its so-called powerful American lobby.
Of course, those claims have been met with fierce pushback from the Trump administration, including his now former boss, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who says the president concluded that Iran did indeed pose an imminent threat after carefully reviewing all the information set before him. Hundreds of TSA agents have already reportedly quit their jobs because they can't afford to work without getting paid. And according to an NBC report, over the weekend, Houston's Hobby Airport saw a 55% call-out rate for those TSA agents.
That's the highest number there since the shutdown first started. Senate Majority Leader John Thune telling Fox News he's pessimistic about the future of the SAVE Act as it needs 60 votes to pass. Senator Thune explains why he's not on board with some Republicans' desire to reform the filibuster, a procedural delay tactic in order to pass the SAVE Act.
I know people don't like to hear this, but the talking filibuster, you know, it takes you back kind of basically to the 1800s. You go back to the 19th century and the way things were done in the Senate. And we can't find an example in modern Senate history where a piece of legislation passed via the talking filibuster.
