Ali Larijani was Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and a high-profile public face of the Iranian regime. Larijani became widely known over the last two weeks for provocative social media posts including threats against President Trump.
An Israeli official told Fox News that Larajani was considered Iran's de facto leader, given the lack of certainty over the status of Supreme Leader Morshtaba Khamenei.
Chapter 2: What are the implications of Iran's counterattacks on Gulf neighbors?
That's Fox's Jonathan Savage. In another strike, Israel killed the leader of the Iranian force that cracked down on civilian protests, killing thousands. Iran keeps up the counterattacks on Gulf neighbors, hitting an oil facility in the United Arab Emirates, and drones and rockets fired at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. One got through and hit the compound in Baghdad.
Meanwhile, Fox's Steve Harrigan tells us from Armenia near the Iran border Axios reporting for the first time since the war began that there has been direct communication between Iran and the U.S., citing an unnamed U.S.
Chapter 3: How is the U.S. responding to communications with Iran?
official saying that Iran's foreign minister has contacted U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. The foreign minister denied that any such contact had taken place, but President Trump does say that Iran wants to talk. I talk to everybody because sometimes good things come out of it. The president's also trying to build a coalition of allies to police the Strait of Hormuz to unblock oil shipping.
Oil prices up 2% this morning. A federal judge is blocking a revised childhood immunization schedule.
Medical groups, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, suing over the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cutting the number of long-recommended childhood vaccinations to 11 and downgrading immunization recommendations for six diseases, including the flu, hepatitis A and B, and RSV. The plaintiffs alleging the move is unlawful and will harm public health.

A long nightmare is over in New York for a man who spent 19 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. 61-year-old Kenneth Windley, who was convicted for a $550 robbery nearly two decades ago, is a free man today after prosecutors said they now agree he didn't commit the crime. Prosecutors said new evidence, including confessions from two other men, convinced them of his innocence.
Woodley was convicted after a money order he bought at a discount was traced to the robbery, and he was identified in a lineup. Gary Baumgarten, Fox News. Federal Reserve policymakers will gather today to assess the economy, but they're not expected to cut interest rates at the end of their meeting tomorrow after three rate cuts last year on Wall Street.
