Following days of talks with Arab allies, President Trump emerged from the White House signaling a potential breakthrough in Gaza. I think it's a deal that will get the hostages back. It's going to be a deal that will end the war. It's going to be a deal with it's going to be peace.
I think we have a deal. Details of a ceasefire were not announced, though the U.S. has been pitching a proposal for a post-war Gaza that would not include any Hamas leadership. President Trump is expected to meet early next week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the president's warning that he won't allow Israel to annex the West Bank.
At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News. Dozens of delegates at the United Nations walked out as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began his General Assembly speech about the ongoing war in Gaza. Fox's Eric Sean reports from the U.N. He defended Israel's military actions against Hamas. Hezbollah and Iran, saying his country is fighting for everyone else in the world.
He rejected claims that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, pointing out that it is Hamas that is punishing the civilians there. His speech was also broadcast over loudspeakers in Gaza and cell phones there. As he directly called on the Hamas terrorists to free the remaining hostages, there are a total of 48, but only 20 are believed to be alive. Free the hostages, all of them, the whole 48.
Free the hostages now. As he spoke across the street in Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, several hundred pro-Palestinian protesters chanted against him. Netanyahu rejected claims that Israel has committed genocide. Fox 32 Chicago's Casey Kronis has the details from outside the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois. Demonstrators gathered for the fourth Friday in a row to denounce the ICE presence in the city and suburbs. Much of Friday evening remained relatively calm outside the Broadview facility, but that wasn't the case earlier in the day. Two people were arrested during the commotion.
