Rhode Island gets rocked. I'm John Saucier, Fox News. This blizzard of 2026 officially rewriting the history books for Rhode Island. At 1 p.m. today, the National Weather Service confirmed the snow at Rhode Island's T.F. Green International Airport reached a staggering 32.8 inches.
The total officially breaks a longstanding record for the greatest single snowstorm in Providence, Rhode Island history, surpassing the legendary blizzard of 78. In Central Park in New York City, snow totals as of 1.30 p.m. was 19.7 inches. Fox's Tanya J. Powers is in New York with more.
Chapter 2: How are power outages impacting the Northeast during the blizzard?
Thousands in the Northeast are dealing with power outages and travel shutdowns due to the Nor'easter. Philadelphia Mayor Sherelle Parker says her city has more than a foot of snow. Travel is very difficult and in some areas it is nearly impossible this afternoon. So again, for those who do not have to travel and drive, we encourage you to stay inside.
New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani echoed that call while delivering unwelcome news to students. I hope our students enjoy their snow day today and stay warm and safe throughout. But I do have some tough news to share. School will be in person tomorrow. You can still pelt me with snowballs when you see me. Snow totals in Central Park have passed 19 inches.
In New York City, Tanya J. Powers, Fox News. The FBI investigating after an armed man was shot and killed yesterday trying to enter President Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. It still calls into question the perimeter itself and what needs to be done to make sure this does not happen again. Now, the suspect, 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin, he breached the scene around 1.30 a.m. on Sunday, holding a shotgun and gas canister. He was reported missing by family in Moore County, North Carolina.
