What recent military actions have Israel and the U.S. taken against Iran?
Israel and the U.S. continue to strike Iran. I'm Jack Callahan, Fox News. Fox's Jonathan Hunt with the latest. Explosions echoed across Tehran and in many other parts of Iran. The targets, again, political and military infrastructure and apparently police stations across the country. Presumably an attempt to take out the forces involved.
who might be sent into the streets to put down any uprising by the Iranian people, if and when, as President Trump hopes, that uprising happens.
Israel, meantime, released video of the destruction of the underground compound apparently used by Ayatollah Khamenei before he was killed, along with an animation that Israeli officials say shows the complexity of that compound, apparently built over many years and used by the Ayatollah as a safe haven. Iran continues to respond by missile launches and drones toward Israel and U.S.
targets in Gulf countries. President Trump posting on social media today, Iran will be hit very hard. State Department continues to evacuate Americans from the Middle East as the war continues. As Iranian counterstrikes have turned the Gulf region into a virtual shooter's gallery, Americans in the region have been seeking ways to leave.
The State Department now says some 24,000 from the area have now returned to the United States and others are on their way out to the states or other countries or they're simply hunkering down. Not all, it must be noted, with the assistance of the government. The supplement airlines and airports gradually opening up despite ongoing fire. State Department is chartering flights.
Three to four have already been completed. More are to come over the weekend, probably 10 by the end of the weekend, plus ground transportation provided to get folks to countries where there are flights from countries where there are no flights. That's when police say Asif Merchant came here from Pakistan because he says Iranian leadership told him to, said hunt down President Trump, hire a couple of guys that can take him out at a political rally. 47 years old, he's facing federal terrorism charges and could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Merchant was arrested just one day before Trump was shot in Butler, Pennsylvania, and later told the feds that he believed Iran... was behind that attack because it was so similar to the plan that they gave him. Kind of get up in an elevated place, go to a rally and create all this chaos so the gunman can get away.
