Leaders of the United Farm Workers Union say not only will it not be involved in this month's celebrations of Cesar Chavez, it's also planning to establish a, quote, confidential channel for people to share details or experiences they had with him in the union's early years.
It comes after the Cesar Chavez Foundation announced on Tuesday that he is accused of engaging in, quote, inappropriate sexual behavior with women and children during his time as president of the Farm Workers Union, which was co-founded by Chavez in 1962. Cesar Chavez Day is celebrated on his birthday on March 31st to commemorate workers' rights.
