Erling is a Norwegian explorer, publisher, author, entrepreneur and art collector. He was the first person to complete the “Three Poles Challenge” on foot—reaching the North Pole, the South Pole, and the summit of Mount Everest. In 1990, along with Børge Ousland, Erling became the first to reach the North Pole unsupported, traveling 800 km in 58 days without external assistance. In 1993, he became the first person to walk solo and unsupported to the South Pole, covering 1,310 km in 50 days. He completed the journey without radio contact. After his expeditions, he became a bestselling author, writing 8 books on exploration, philosophy and art collecting, which have been translated into 42 languages.
