Hey there, we are Indosport with me, John Molloy. We cover sport and we have things like this. The Netherlands-Japan game was very disappointing first half. Second half good though. Japan are good. Do you know what Ange Postacoglie was saying about Japan? They have a 100-year plan to win the World Cup and they're currently at year 60. He didn't expand it.
He should have been asked to tell us more about the plan.
Chapter 2: What memorable quarter-final experiences do the guests share?
2066.
But that's what he was saying. And then they said, and we'll be back after these adverts. That's incredible. This is an Irish independent podcast.

Hello and welcome to the IndoGA podcast where we'll be looking ahead to the All-Ireland, Cine Ireland quarterfinals this weekend.
Chapter 3: How do corner forwards and corner backs compare in terms of difficulty?
Offaly and Cork in Turles on Sunday at half three and the previous night, seven o'clock in Turles, Dublin and Clare. But boys, I want to jog your own memories and something I always wanted to chat to you about, Pat, actually, is your quarterfinal against Kilkenny in 2018. I don't know if it's referenced enough. How big was that in your journey?
Everton's spoken about Quaid's flick and Tom Condon's catch and this kind of thing. To me now, that was the day, and Tom Morrissey's point, that was the day that he announced herself on the senior stage.
Yeah, and it was a big one because Limerick hadn't beaten Kilkenny in 45 years since 1973. And the year before, Kilkenny had knocked us out in Norland Park, which was John and Kylie's first year. And it was kind of... It was kind of the same old, same old, you know, kind of a clap on the back and saying, geez, lads, you're great, lads.
Chapter 4: Can Dublin recover from their recent performance against Clare?
You only lost Kilkenny by three or four pints above in Dunham Park. You know, aren't you great? Kind of a moral victory kind of stuff. And, you know, I won't lie, even as young players, maybe we took that. Maybe we actually didn't. Maybe we did take that moral victory at the time, you know, in 2017.
That was part of the psyche though, wasn't it? Like it was a weakness in the psyche at the time.
Yeah, that was when you're kind of in the middle of the pack and sometimes at the back of the pack and then sometimes trying to push forward. But you're going nowhere for years in terms of like Limerick just getting over the line.
Chapter 5: What are the expectations for Offaly vs. Cork in the quarter-finals?
You have no choice, but that's all you get sometimes is demurred victories. You know what I mean? You have to actually push through the barrier and win something before...
before that kind of moves on but yeah that was in 17 and then like of course loads of fellas patting us on the back even though we were bait and knocked out and won no game but it showed us a few levels I think that day above in Nolan Park I think Michael Finlay actually got man of the match I think it could have been his last year he played he trained about three times that year before that game by all accounts
yeah so like you know you had for some of us that only made our debut that year or the year before we were going up playing against Michael Finlay playing against TJ I remember myself I came on in that game midfield and Walter Walsh just just blew me out of the way at one stage with one arm and I remember in the game in that moment thinking like
wow, Jesus, I need to get an awful lot stronger here. Do you know? And I'm sure that was kind of a general consensus amongst a lot of us. But fast forward 12 months then when we went down to Turles and into that game and Kilkenny were favourites. And again, it was going kind of in a similar direction for a lot of the game.
Chapter 6: How have injuries affected the teams heading into the quarter-finals?
If you remember, we were winning for an awful lot of the game and
Aaron Glenn was playing really well he should have had two goals it was kind of a team of his for a while he was kicking ball at top corner yeah he was like he was like he was like Daryl O'Shea in football he was love catching the ball with two hands and forgetting about the hurley but he was playing really well and we could have been more ahead if he had got those two goals but he didn't get them and then near the end then what happened only Richie Hogan I remember John Donnelly came through
give us a great stick pass to Richie Hogan. Richie Hogan kind of shimmied one way back onto the left and just rife it into the net. And on the line, I remember thinking to myself, like, oh, is that the same old story again now? Like, you know, we've done really well and now Kenny are just going to power on. There was only about five minutes left and then up steps Tom Morrissey.
And I know we're going through all of our teams in a while. I think the biggest...
the most unluckiest man ever in an All-Star in history in my opinion could be Tom Morrissey in 2018 he was exceptional that year and that game was just he actually got the last point but he got the drawing point as well he got two points in a row and they were two outrageous points and that was a huge win for us because it was the first time I remember we came back into the dressing room and players sitting amongst each other were just like turning to each other like he's not going to go backwards hmm

Chapter 7: What strategies might Offaly use against Cork?
Do you know what I mean? And we had certain fellas on our team who had, some of us had played minor there, which is a huge difference, obviously. Most of the team had never played senior there. And some of the lads had never played there at all, even in underage. I remember at the time, like Dermot Burns and Gerold Haggerty had never played there at all, at any level.
So, you know, and that was even referenced. And a lot of us had never played there at senior level. So that was absolutely huge. And then, of course, when Brian Cody came in, you know even just being addressing Brian Cody coming in and he just spoke exactly how you would imagine in terms of like if we won this game today lads
Chapter 8: What are the predictions for the upcoming quarter-final matches?
nothing was in our head only winning this whole Ireland and you should be the exact same so it really set the tone and it was again yeah other games get referenced a lot in 18 but that was probably one of the biggest if not the biggest of the whole lot because it kind of changed you know we went from the early men to here we are we're going from Turles up to Croke Park and it was it was huge there was some buzz after that I remember Tom doing an interview on the pitch after the line to six hit me it was like that we want to make our own history
Yeah, they said it to him about the 45 years. He said, we just want to make our own history. And that was kind of a team, even that line he used was often used years gone by. And even last week when I said about history, the fact that Emmerich have now won against all four of the Munster teams in the Munster finals, that was another bit of history.
and I know Tom all my life and Tom loves that Tom does want to create his own history and wants to leave his own legacy just for himself and all what he wanted to do I referenced before as well how Tom spoke about wanting to have a league medal wanting to have a Munster medal wanting to have an Ireland medal back when we were this is in 2016 when he was barely even getting any game time and he stood up and said that amongst the group so yeah very special player Tom an incredible leader
Well, he has seven of one, five of one, and four of another now, so he's not doing too bad. I don't eat hives when I get that much, but go on. Moal, outside of your own kind of quarterfinal memories, any particular game stand out to you? Not even from your own career. Any other All-Ireland quarterfinals stand out? There's been some right ones down through the years.
I remember even... Yeah, the one for me, the one that stands out for me would be Tipperary and Colby, 2010. Ah, yeah. When Corby caught the winner there on the... on the sideline.
Cusick stand side, or no, sorry, Hogan stand side, real tight angle.
You know, I mean, I think Galway were leading, leading for large parts of that match and then kind of, Tipperary kind of came down the home straight and the last five, ten minutes kind of pulled away and then I suppose Corbett got the, got the winner but isn't it amazing like, you know,
the way one game even in such a tight game like a quarter final can change the whole landscape of a year can change the whole landscape of what can follow on in the immediate aftermath of possibly winning in All-Ireland and you know if God knows if you know when you relate back to that game that 2018 game with Limerick and Kilkenny.
You know, if Limerick were to have, you know, come up short in that match, that would have been his second year in a row they would have come up short against Kilkenny. And, you know, maybe elements of doubt may have set in. And who's to say that, you know, John Coyle, you know, in the world of you know, managers staying and going.
