Chapter 1: What game did Respawn cancel?
I always get roped into what's about, right? The original plan was that I was going to switch with him because the heater was under him, so I was over him. So I was like, okay, I'll take one for the team. And then he's just like, you know what? I'm not going to switch desks with you. I'm going to switch to another desk that is equal distance to a heater. So it doesn't solve his issue.
It doesn't solve his actual problem. So he moves the desk, and then after that, he's like, oh, I want to move these chairs. The chairs we use for the KF podcast. He's like, I want to move the chairs behind me. He has all these big plans. I want it to be a hangout spot.
my favorite thing is nick eventually like comes nick oddly supportive of mike always and i'll never fully understand it i love it but i'll never understand jealous of it i'm being honest but what's so funny to me is like you know uh nick's like yeah just do this just do this and you just go what the fuck are we giving him an apartment now and what did nick say
I don't even know. I was laughing. He said, because he's sitting right by the bathrooms. He's like, because he's sitting right next to the shitters, he gets to do whatever he wants. And then Nick, of course, talked about him crowning in the morning.
All right, God.
It was a lot. And thank you so much to everybody for supporting this. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs and Delaney Twining for supporting this madness. Today, we're sponsored and brought to you by Monster Hunter Now, but we'll tell you about that later. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have six stories today.
A baker's dozen.
Story number one. Respawn's secret new FPS game has been canceled before even being announced. This is from Callum Patterson at Dexerto. I wrote it and I've been saying it as Dexterro for a very long time.
I mean, I'm going to be real with you. I've never put much thought into it, but if you asked me, hey, spell the website that starts with Dex, I would put a T after that.

Chapter 2: What did Peter Moore say about the console wars?
In an interview on Danny Pena's YouTube channel, shout out the homie, Moore was asked about Xbox's current strategy of releasing its first party games on other systems, most notably PS5.
Moore, who joined Xbox in 2003 to help it compete with the PS2 and GameCube, then oversaw the launch of the Xbox 360 and said in that era, the concept of console wars was a good thing for the industry because it kept each side in the public eye.
According to Moore, the mainstream press previously blamed, quote unquote, blamed all of society's ills on video games, saying that they were, quote, a waste of time creating violence, blah, blah, blah, blah, all of that. And that, quote, the early 2000s was a phenomenal platform for us to get off the back pages and get to the front pages and to be taken seriously as an entertainment medium.
What great quotes there, dude. Yeah.
We're just fucking dropping some bombs, man. He's just having a good time.
Yeah, shout out to Danny and Paris for getting this. This is a big get here.
Yeah, this is a really good one. This is a really good one. More was notorious for appearing at shows like E3 with game tattoos, such as his Halo 2 tattoo used to announce its release date, and his GTA 4 tattoo used in an attempt to convince the public that GTA was now associated with the Xbox brand. And it worked to an extent. It definitely worked.
I remember those G4 clips were always circulating. Every single time we talked about E3, it would always be him with the tattoo. That was synonymous. Moore says these and other PR stunts were necessary at the time for helping to grow the industry. we needed to do a ton of missionary work in those days.
And at the same time, we were young enough to have fun and do all the daft stuff that we did and all the stunts. I think the council wars that you're kind of alluding to were healthy for the industry. Look, I've said it before, certainly. I did encourage the battle, because I think gamers loved to see Xbox versus PlayStation. Maybe Nintendo as well. Just throw that in there. Damn, Peter!

Chapter 3: What changes are coming to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4?
Like,
it's a lot of rinse and repeat things. So I feel like it was kind of inflated in a way, but there was something unique to four, at least up to this point in the franchise was there was pro goals where each one of the pros would have their own goals associated with them that were like a lot more difficult and very curated to the skaters. That's what I'm most afraid of not making the jump here.
And then there was also just the logistics of putting the two minute timer on the Tony Hawk four levels and the goals there was, Not all the goals are going to translate to that because the levels are just too big. Like, 4's levels are so much bigger than 3's. So it's going to be interesting. But I have full faith in this. Like, this actually, to me, is not bad news at all.
In fact, this is going to be an unpopular opinion. Like, I don't care. This is my favorite franchise. And I'm happy with this because, like, this, to me, I think is the right move for this. They've already proven. And the problem is Iron Galaxy is not Vicarious Vision. So...
I don't know if they got the stuff when it comes to what I'm about to say here, but Tony Hawk's 1 and 2 remake, they added a bunch of goals to the levels. Tony Hawk 2 had way more goals originally than 1 did in its levels, and they added enough goals to 1 to have parity, and I loved what they added. Loved it. I thought they really made a good use of exploring the levels.
At the end of the day, I think the goal of... how the goals were set out to be in four of like showing off all the levels, having the triggers for the destruction and all that stuff. I think they're going to just find different ways to make that happen. That feel more modern, feel more snappy. I, I think at the end of the day and God, I might be wrong. And I know I'm being very hopeful here, but,
I think I'm going to like this better at the end of the day. Wow. I really do think that they know what they're doing here, and I think that they're going to pull it off, and we're getting new levels as well. Anyone saying, oh, this feels more just like Tony Hawk 3 remake with four levels, yeah, I don't think that's a bad thing at all, though.
Do you worry about them trying to pare down the four levels?
No, I don't. Oh, and on top of all that, if you just go to the very beginning of this trailer, Barrett, this starts off with... this is one of the goals from college that are like a story-based thing of skitching on the professor's car. Like, I think that they did that on purpose to show, Hey, like the fun stuff, like the cool, crazy stuff.

Chapter 4: Why are fans upset about the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater changes?
Like, hey, we're going to fucking actually do it. Oh, they just wouldn't do it, though. They just wouldn't do whatever. They just wouldn't do it.
Skip to underground. It just wouldn't do well. This is the right move.
Yeah.
Like, that's just like, unfortunately, this is the right move. But I also, I fully understand people being mad that this isn't a 4 remake. And it's like, all right, it's not. But what it is, I think, is going to be really, really awesome. It's a reimagining. It is. Yeah. Um, and it's funny too, because like, this isn't the first time they've done things like this and it's worked.
Granted Tom out, never stopped here, but Tony Hawk's underground to added classic mode, which added Tony Hawk's pro skater style goals to the underground two levels. So there was the story mode, but then there was also the classic mode. Fuck. I forgot about the classic mode.
So maybe that's all this comes down to is I like that the two minute timer and like get everything done and figuring out how to speed run it all. And again, I don't think they're all going to be, I know they're not all going to be the same goals for four. They're going to make new ones that fit the level. This is going to be awesome. Yeah.
I think I'm more upset about like, You know, it was cool to see Doomguy and the Revenant skater in there. I didn't realize it was going to be, like, paid DLC. I know in our times today it makes sense. But, like, you know, there used to be skaters that you would unlock, secret skaters that you would unlock and stuff. And so I'm just, like, a little bummed out about that.
I mean, that was, I think, like, the biggest...
letdown of one and two remake for me was there wasn't any there was there was officer dick and there was the skeleton guy like there were secret skaters but uh and it was jack black for some reason but um there weren't wolverine and darth maul and spider-man and things like that well one and two spider-man specifically is what i was looking for but more than that because i understand they didn't have spider-man i was convinced i was going to be able to skate as crash bandicoot
