What challenges did Niall Hatch face during the Bloom event?
This is Mooney Goes Wild on RTE Radio 1. Yes, a very good night to you. Moody Goes Wild here until 11pm. And a little bit of news for you. If you're a fan of Late Date, I'll be presenting it on Thursday in a couple of days' time. Can you believe it? They're letting me... Anyway, they're mad. Right, Niall Hatch is in studio with me tonight. Niall Hatch, how are you getting on?
I'm doing okay. How is the voice? Well, it's been a while since Bloom ended. It's been a week, but I'm still feeling the effects. I had five solid days on the Birdwatch Ireland stand of talking and talking and talking and talking and then talking some more at quite high volume. So it does have an impact on the vocal cords. It's certainly much better than it was a couple of days ago.
When I finished on the bank holiday Monday, I just literally couldn't speak. And I also had my facial muscles had kind of frozen into a permanent kind of smile just from grinning all the time. No, literally my back teeth wouldn't meet up. I couldn't chew properly for a couple of days.
You'd be like the Joker from Batman. But is it good for Birdwatch Ireland at Bloom, I mean?
I mean, do you get many new members? We get a huge number of new members. So thank you to everyone who joined us. Thank you to everybody who gave us donations for pin badges and stickers and posters. And thank you very much to the organisers of Board B at Bloom for having us there. It's really good to see every year there's a greater emphasis on sustainability and on biodiversity conservation.
And would you believe I've been at every single day of Bloom since it started in 2007. Really? Every single day. We've had the stand there. We were the first environmental charity, I think the first charity of any kind, to be at Bloom from day one. And it's just grown and grown from there.
Well, I have to say hello to Kerry Gardiner, who's the main organiser there. She's fantastic. And to all of the staff, they really were terrific. And I had some friends who went this year for the first time, not from Ireland, and they were super impressed. They said it was a wonderful day out. Just really enjoyed it. They enjoyed the Phoenix Park. And then they had Bloom.
And the weather was great for almost all of us, wasn't it? It was.
The rain doesn't matter. See, I don't mind the rain. Anyway, let's get on with tonight's show.
