Chapter 2: What injuries are impacting the NBA playoffs?
But let's start with a funny story here. Caruso receiving a technical foul for using his shoe. to block a shot in a thunder win over the Magic. They clinched a playoff spot. First team to do that. But look at this. Caruso, who had lost his shoe, had picked it up, and then Silva is attacking with the left hand, and Caruso reaches out and just gets the ball.
Like, he's not touching that without the shoe. But you can't do that, we learned. They counted the bucket. It was like a goaltending, so to speak. And then a technical foul as well. And Caruso says, look, I won't do this anymore. Swiping... at the ball with my shoe. I didn't really realize it was going to cost my team basically three points. Three points, yeah. But pretty funny. Yeah.
Every once in a while we get a question that maybe I'll be in beach stepping or we could use it for a rapid fire. What's a rule that should be changed? And I think this is a rule that should be changed. You should be able to use your own shoe in any way, shape, and form you want to, but only in a scenario like this where it legitimately comes off your foot and you retrieve it. Okay.
Now it's a slippery slope. Yeah. People are going to be looking for the loopholes for sure. But if you get your own shoe back, you should be able to play defense with it. At least for that possession. Yes. Yeah. Okay. Until the clock stops. I'm fine with that. You're telling me you can whack a ball. Yes. You can play whack-a-mole, whack-a-ball. But you can use it on offense too. Oh, wow.
It's not going to help. But if you've got to keep it in your same hand would be my rule. Once you pick it up, keep it there. You can use it any way you want to. You're not on board with this. No, I can't get on board. I can get on board with sliding your feet and doing that. I remember Taj Gibson had one in his hand as he was playing defense. He was sliding those feet.
He just went vertical with it. I don't know if he was just trying to sell more shoes because there was a great camera angle of seeing that shoe as he was defending Nemanja Bielica, but I can't really get behind it. Goal tent. They called it a goal tent. They counted the bucket. They were like, yeah, you can't do that. Well, they said, what's the rule that can get us two points, basically?
Because it's not a goaltend. Yeah, I mean, yeah. I put goaltending in my notes. It's the equivalent to me of it. They counted the bucket. No, they called it a goaltend. Did they actually? Yeah, they called it a goaltend and gave him a tech. Yeah. We saw Marc Gasol do something similar way back in the day. I think it was Derek Favors when he was on the Jazz and Marc Gasol was on the Grizzlies.
Remember this? We must have showed it on the show. He had his shoe in his hand and he used it to do the poke from behind when Favors sort of beat him baseline and he went...
whack with his shoe and got the ball on the ball yeah yeah yeah i don't remember the exact call on that one didn't call it goaltend i know that but uh i guess he wasn't really shooting maybe a technical on him too and then uh there's an old old clip of uh bill walton you ever seen that clip of him trying to now he is not as successful as alex caruso was he just like he lost his shoe he picks it up and he like throws it in the air like somebody tries a jump shot and

Chapter 3: What funny incident involved Caruso and his shoe?
36 points, career high. Bam Adebayo, obviously, career high recently with his 83. Corey Kisper, career high against the Wizards. So... Last few weeks. I mean, that's a good point. Especially if you're an NBA center. You name two of them there. Bam, 83 points. That's good. Keita had an awesome game against the Wizards. He went for 24 and 10. Shot 85% from the field. Porzingis recently came back.
He went for 30 points against the Wizards. And then, like you said, Jalen Duren last night. 36 points, 12 boards, shot 77%. So, yeah. Play the Wizards. You're going to be all right. And I was thinking, too, with Cade, like Trey Johnson III falling on him. One of the better guys in the NBA to have fall on your back. He's got to be one of the lightest guys in the league. He's very skinny.
He's listed. He's well under 200 pounds, I'll tell you that. I know he's a little taller, so maybe he's got some weight there. My point is he's on a very short list of guys I would want to have to land on my back. Yuki would be on that list. Yeah, Bones. Bones Highland, good one. He's skinny. Yeah, maybe too sharp, though. He's pointier. Who else? Let us know in the stream. Trae Young is pretty.
Trae Young, good one. How about another wizard? Will Reilly. He's skinny. He's skinny. Seems like he weighs more, but maybe not. He probably does. He's a little taller. I'm just bringing it up. He's playing well right now. 21 last night, 20 or more in three of his last five games. He's doubled his scoring average since the All-Star break. Fantastic. He's barely 20 years old. Way to go, brother.
He's got blemishes on his forehead. He does. He's a kid. Get him an Oxypad. LaMelo Ball dropped 30 points as the Hornets beat the shorthanded Heat 136-106. This was our pick-em game. We'll obviously get to tonight's pick-em game, but it was close for three quarters. It was a game for three quarters, even though the Heat were very shorthanded. No Bam, a couple other guys out.
But the Hornets were up like 96-88, and then they just blew them out of the water here, Trey. 40-18 fourth quarter, and the game turns into a 30-point victory for Charlotte. Yeah, I feel like I was betrayed. No Bam Adebayo going for 83 points, so they elevated Norm Powell to the starting lineup, and it just wasn't good. But you're right.
It was all about the fourth quarter for the Hornets, and I actually thought Kobe White played a really good game. Hell yeah. He only had a couple in the last quarter, but that's because it turned into a blowout. But 24 points for Kobe last night. Hit three threes, had three assists. Only a second 20-point game since coming over to the Hornets.
Been very up and down, but you like to see the up ones. Yeah, I thought he just kept the spirit of this team going. He was their only guy who really scored a lot off the bench. You could see it out there. He was very, very important to get them to the fourth quarter where the lamello leading this team as a more traditional point guard was very evident.
He was setting up Brandon Miller for those threes who went splash, splash, hit two threes in a row and started talking to the fans there. Great vibe now in Charlotte, which is good because this team is winning. Good crowd. Whoever was calling out Brandon Miller, I mean, he was getting it. I was trying to do the lip reading. It looked like a keep talking. He wanted him to keep talking.

Chapter 4: What are the key highlights from the latest NCAA tournament games?
Wow. Yeah, I know. Wow, look at this. This looks like a high-scoring game. 90 points per game for high point 83 for Wisconsin. It's a new era for the Badgers. They're not just all big white guys. They probably are, but now they can score a lot. I think that's the thing with this high point team. Obviously, they are just a high-octane offense.
Chapter 5: How do injuries impact team strategies in March Madness?
Literally high points. Yeah, exactly. That's awesome. Dare we take them, or is that crazy? Wisconsin and your family? Yeah, that's where Laura went. Right. So are we forced to take them out of loyalty? I don't even think Laura picked Wisconsin to win the championship this year. Oh, wow.
Chapter 6: What are the potential upsets in this year's NCAA tournament?
Even she doesn't believe. I don't know why. It's not like she's been totally tapped into the results this year. She knows that they're playing this year. She knows their weaknesses. High point could really take advantage. You want to go high? I mean, how many 12-5s have we done? No, we haven't done. Not St.
Chapter 7: How do personal connections influence bracket predictions?
John's. We've got to have one. And not Vanderbilt. We have to have one, man. Or the Zips. All right, let's do it. Okay. High point. High point. We're going high point. Didn't see that coming. Arkansas Razorbacks. John Calipari's team versus the Hawaii, I believe they're the Warriors. Darius Acuff Jr. This guy's a high draft.
product um this guy very exciting player very exciting i think uh it'll be interesting to see him in the nba he might unfortunately give a lot back on the other end but yeah he's light on that end um i like arkansas i like arkansas though i read something about hawaii they did this thing like because they have to come over for these tournaments at the end right okay instead of flying all the way back they now stay stateside huh probably better like on their you know
mental game. Yeah, for sure. And not having to take long flights. But I like Arkansas. I actually have Arkansas going pretty far in my brackets. Nice. The BYU Cougs versus the Texas Longhorns who qualified last night on a game winner from a guy. Hell of a jump shot. Yeah, that was a fun game to watch. That was. I was infected with the madness last night. Both games were. Yeah. Got close.
College is funny. It's like a 12-point game and there's like a handful of minutes left and it always gets close. Oh, yeah. They like... Suddenly these kids can't miss a three-pointer when they're down six to 12 points in the final couple minutes. Like it's 80% of the time they hit it. So weird. I got no feel. I like Texas. Apparently they are better than their seed. Okay.
Graydon Gordian will be happy if we take Texas. Okay. We're saying an upset for A.J. DeBansa saying you're one and done. You're out of here. DeBansa out. Yeah. We'll play 40 minutes. Give us some information on DeBansa. We got 5-1 in the dots. And DeBansa's averaging 25 a game. Oh, come on, man. Six rebounds. A lot of injuries for this team. Yeah, a lot of injuries. Nate Pickens out.
Richie Saunders out. Are they going to play a box and one on this team? How dare you? How dare you say that? Too soon? His team got boxed and won last night. We got boxed and won in the second half last night, and we fell apart. Tragedy. You got to watch out for those jump defenses, especially in college. Come on. That's good coaching. That's good coaching.
I'd love to shake the hand of that coach against who you played against last night. These guys. Apparently, these guys are under-seeded, though. Texas? Hey, man. I love it. Let's do it. All right, Texas. That would be an interesting talking point. You can't even beat Texas in the NCAA tournament? We were just there. We were just where? Wait, were we at that? Yeah, we were in Austin.
We were in Austin. That was where we were at. Yeah, when we saw Wemby play the Suns. That's where we were. We have the cheer film. That's right. The Gonzaga Bulldogs versus the Kennesaw State Owls. Now you want to talk about local team. Woo-hoo! This is the most local team you could get, I guess, outside of Georgia Tech, which is slightly more local. Guys, that's our team.
That's our massive upset. Why do you say that? Because they're the Owls. They're nearby. 14-3. Hooty Hoo, baby. Hooty Hoo, baby. Yeah, Hooty Hoo. Hashtag Hooty Hoo. Hooty Hoo, baby. Let's go. All right. This is our crazy upset. They're star Simeon Cottle. 20 per game? Graham EK wishes. Is he out or what's that say? Suspended? That's not good. That says S-U-S.
