In the belief that defective genes run in families, which supports that mental illness is hereditary, the status of the immigrant continues to be seen as degenerative as Trump proved in his anti-immigrant rhetoric rousing half the nation. Claiming only sterilization can eliminate our social problems, The Passing of the Great Race by Madison Grant, led to sterilization of 60,000 immigrants in America, and also inspired Hitler and German Eugenics in WWII.
