In June of last year, the U.S. Air Force and Navy attacked three Iranian nuclear sites. Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are scheduled to meet today with the foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland. As NPR's Franco Ordonez reports, the talks stem from the president's repeated remarks about the U.S. acquiring Greenland.
The Danish officials requested the meeting with the Secretary of State Marco Rubio after President Trump renewed his push to take over Greenland by military force if necessary. President Trump and his top aides have repeatedly claimed that control of Greenland is a national security issue for the United States. Citing Russian and Chinese activity in the region, he claims that if the U.S.
doesn't take control of the territory, Russia or China will. and that he can't allow that to happen. Greenland's prime minister says the island territory wants to remain with Denmark and will face a geopolitical crisis if it has to choose between the U.S. and Denmark. A vote in the Senate is expected today on a war powers resolution designed to limit President Trump's ability to carry out further military action against Venezuela. This follows the military operation in Caracas that ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He and his wife later pleaded not guilty to drug charges in a federal court in New York.
Trump has been pressing Senate Republicans to vote against the measure. Last week, the resolution advanced with the help of five GOP senators. Authorities in Thailand say the collapse of a construction crane onto a moving train has killed at least 25 people. Here's Michael Sullivan.
Thai officials say the train was carrying nearly 200 people when the accident occurred in Nakhon Ratchasima province as the train traveled from the capital, Bangkok, to Ubon Ratchathani. The crane was being used to build a high-speed rail line above the existing one when it fell onto the moving train. causing it to derail and catch fire.
Images shared by the authorities show overturned carriages and firefighters extinguishing the blaze shortly after the incident. It's not yet clear how the accident occurred. Thailand's transport minister has ordered an investigation. For NPR News, I'm Michael Sullivan in Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Chapter 3: How is the U.S. responding to the situation in Iran?
Sachs has been struggling financially since it purchased Neiman Marcus in 2024 and assumed that company's debt. The Federal Trade Commission is suing an AI search engine it accuses of engaging in what it calls rampant consumer deception. NPR's Bobby Allen says the company is accused of tricking people into signing up for monthly memberships.
The company is called JustAnswer. It runs hundreds of sites like AskWomensHealth.com, AskALawyer.com, and Pearl.com. FTC investigators say people would find them by clicking an online ad, which would instruct them to sign up to get human help with their questions. That's when hundreds of thousands of people got allegedly locked into monthly fees up to nearly $80 a month.
It's a tactic known as dark patterns, when consumers are tricked into recurring fees that are difficult to cancel. In a statement, a JustAnswer spokesman said the company's disappointed with the suit, saying its pricing models are clear and simple. The investigation was started under former FTC chair Lena Kahn and continued in the Trump administration. Bobby Allen, NPR News.
Authorities in Southern California say actor Kiefer Sutherland is facing charges in Los Angeles. He's out on bond after being arrested on suspicion of assault and making criminal threats. The L.A. Police Department says Sutherland was taken into custody early Monday after they say the actor physically assaulted the driver of a ride-hail vehicle.
