Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hey, it's Bob Stauffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime. All right, the Edmonton Oilers have made it official. They've activated Leon Drysaddle. He's no longer on LTIR, so I think that's a pretty good sign he's going to play. It's 537 in oil country. Royal Pizza, Pizza Pats, and so much more.
Edmonton owned and operated 55-plus years. Ryan and Kyle and the staff at Royal Pizza.
Chapter 2: What updates were shared about the Edmonton Oilers' roster?
With their new spicy vegetarian pizza, only for a limited time. For a menu and a list of their locations, visit royalpizza.ca, where the recommendation is the Mediterranean chicken. We got Craig McTavish here for Contract Equipment, Canada's premium heavy equipment dealer with rental and sales.
Chapter 3: How has Leon Draisaitl's return impacted the team?
Of note, the Anaheim Ducks called up Tyson Hines from the Miner. He's been paired mostly with Radko Gudis. And as a result, there's a chance that we may not see Drew Ellison nor local product Olin Zellweger, who's played 76 games this season, played 17 minutes a game.
Olin Zellweger, the two docs, Kirby and Colton Dock, and consensus top five pick in this year's NHL draft, Keaton Verhoff, all live within six houses of one another in Fort Saskatchewan. Now, Mac T, I'm going to say... Good road hockey games in that neighborhood. I was just going to say, that must have been one hell of a road hockey game, man.
Now, did you ever ā actually, I know this occurred because the late Dino Cairo, who's a friend of mine, used to show up sometimes. Dino and Joe Cairo would be out there playing ball hockey with their neighbors in the West End, and apparently a couple times you grabbed a stick and started playing road hockey with us.
Oh, yeah. We lived in the cul-de-sac out there, the Weinstein family, and we'd all be out there.
my sons and the Kairos and playing playing ball hockey so uh yeah so I'm a little bit surprised I like Zellweger you know I am and I'm not again because Pat Verbeek is from the Ken Holland school and Ken Holland doesn't tend to like smaller defensemen and Zellweger is a smaller defenseman but he can play anyways uh goaltending Connor Ingram what are your you've seen a lot of them this year
is he a better version of Kelvin Pickard? Is that a fair assessment? Because Kelvin Pickard's a guy the owners like playing for. Yeah. Ingram's, I mean, the league save percentage is down. There was only two teams in the league with better than a 900 save percentage all situations this year. 899 is not a bad save percentage overall. Connor Ingram had a plus 2.7 goal saved above expectation.
To put things in perspective, Lukasz Dostal was minus 10.9 this year. What are your thoughts?
Well, he's he's heating up, though. I would say the goaltending is flat, which is an improvement where we've been in the last. I mean, Stu has played well. And you mentioned Cal Pickard, who I mean, he won games. I have a lot of loyalty to Cal Pickard. He came in and won games. Critical games each of the last two playoff runs. He went 8-2 in the playoffs the last two years.
I would not hesitate to use him one bit. And hopefully, you know, Connor Ingram comes in and continues to do what he's done. There's no reason to think he can't. His game makes sense to me. He's, you know, on the puck. He's not over-aggressive. He's got a good glove hand. I mean, I've loved what I've seen out of him. And there's, I haven't seen, and the big thing is consistency.

Chapter 4: What insights does Craig McTavish provide about Olin Zellweger?
So I'd say the goaltending going in is pretty flat.
Matthias Helcombe, the Oilers, some of the best work that Ken Holland did, to his credit, in the five years that he ran the Oilers. Edmonton had the second best record in the Western Conference. He signed Zach Hyman, great free agent signing, and he traded for Matias Ekholm. And Matias Ekholm made a substantial improvement to the team.
Could Connor Murphy be a sort of, not to have the over, by the way, Matias Ekholm as an oiler has played 247 games. Craig, he's plus 115 in those 247 games. That's pretty good. He's, I mean, he's,
He's getting older, but he's great. He's great. I love the guy. He's done everything here. He's got great character. He's got toughness. He competes like crazy. I mean, Connor Murphy's come in and just shocked me that how good he is. And I don't, I mean, who knows what Chicago's doing.
You talked about them getting rid of their leadership, but man, they've sprinkled the league with a lot of really good players. And the other point I'd like to make is when you're trading for a player that comes from a really good team, beware. When you trade for a player that comes from a bad team,
there's a pretty good chance there's going to be an uptick because team strength has a huge impact on the performance level of players. And when your team strength is high, your individual weaknesses are hidden. And when your team strength is low, everything, believe me, I know from experience when I've been beat out, in the playoffs to a better team, most of my weaknesses were exposed.
Now, Connor Murphy is playing a lot of the game in his own end. He's very good at it. But he comes to a better team. There's less pressure on him. He's played unreal. And Darnell is thriving beside him. Darnell gets the puck. It makes sense. It's not spinning a million miles an hour. He's got a little time in front of him.
I had that with Jason Smith, and when he struggled a bit, Pronger asked to put Jason with me. He said, give him to me back. And I gave him Jason Smith and Pronger. Every mistake went away. Number one pairing. He had the puck, the flat on his tape, and, you know, I think, you know, Connor Murphy's been unreal. And Dickinson's played really good, too.
All right, so now we're going to talk about the center position for two minutes. And... You'd be surprised. Here's the information that we're getting, okay? So the Oilers' penalty kill took a big dip before the Olympic break, as it was out of the lineup. Adam Henrik. The Oilers' penalty killing in games that Henrik has played this year has been at 80%.

Chapter 5: What are the performance metrics for Connor Ingram this season?
550 in oil country. We'll do the Condors report tomorrow. It's brought to you by Equus, Alberta's largest power co-op. Choose community, choose Equus at EQUS.ca. Modern measure to find fit and to find style. Modern measure to find you right in the heart of ice history. Modern measure, that's MDRN measure. If they can make me look good... I know you love this stat. I love that, yeah.
If they can make me look good. Talk about a great marketing ploy right there. If they can make me look good, imagine what they can do for you. That's modern measure. Craig McTavish here, MacT on Mondays for Contract Equipment, Canada's premium heavy equipment dealer, rental and sales. Till this day it enters history with the young gun Aidan Gannon, MacT played in this game.
Well, on this day in 1991, Peter Klima beats Kings goaltender Kelly Rudy at 4 minutes and 48 seconds of the second overtime period at the Great Western Forum to beat Los Angeles 4-3 and tie the Smite Division Finals at a game apiece. Adam Graves and Esa Tikkanen each had multi-assist games, while Grant Fier stopped 46 of 49 shots.
Aiden, do you know who scored the game-winning goal in Game 6 of that series for the Edmonton Oilers? I'm not sure.
Maybe the guy sitting across from me. That's right.
Well, it wasn't Bob.
I'll guarantee you that. There you go. Nicely done. Yeah, so that was ā they beat you guys in 89. You pumped them in 90. Wayne was a little bit banged up, but you guys were an absolute wagon in the 90 playoffs. I don't know if to win the cup after you came back from 3-1 down against Winnipeg. Four-game sweep. Was it enjoyable? Like, think about it. You beat L.A. in 90. You beat L.A.
in 91, and you beat L.A. in 92, and they had Wayne all three of those years. And by 92, no more Mark Messier, right? I mean, even in 91, Mess was hurt that year in the playoffs, could barely skate. And then the owners beat him four years in a row. I think the L.A. Kings decided, we'd rather play Colorado, the best team in the league, than Everton this year, right? Yeah.
The Oilers have won seven straight series against the LA Kings. It's just a different hockey game, too. I mean, they still are very defensive-minded. In spite of the coaching change, they're a very defensive-minded team.
