Our top story for legacy heating and cooling homeowner payments to no interest for a year. That's how you build a legacy, legacy heating and cooling. Remember we came back a week ago today, joined you at five o'clock and discussed what went wrong for the Edmonton Oilers. Instead, there was going to be for once a period of evaluation for the Edmonton Oilers hockey club. And, uh,
That evaluation, I would suggest you, probably is going to be continued. I mean, just to recap, the Anaheim Ducks were better than the Edmonton Oilers in their opening round playoff series, especially at home. The Oilers' penalty killing was an unmitigated disaster. It only went eight for 16, and it bred confidence in Anaheim's top players.
A couple of Edmonton's top players who've been dominant in the playoffs said rough series. Connor McDavid clearly compromised. Evan Bouchard battled through an upper body challenge as well. And certainly McDavid, Ekholm, and Bouchard were all targeted by Anaheim. No excuse. Injuries at center affected Edmonton's five-on-five play and especially the penalty kill.
And they needed more saves as well. And the end result, Stan Bowman said it Saturday, used the word evaluation. Well, that evaluation is ongoing. You're going to hear lots of stuff out there. We'll see what ends up transpiring. The one thing I guaranteed you is that the coaching staff in its current incarnation would not be returning as is. So take it for what it's worth. There will be changes.

Chapter 2: How did injuries impact the Edmonton Oilers' playoff performance?
I said that on the show before. This is his team. A couple late season additions to the playoffs. This is the team that he filled out. He didn't get the job done well enough to get any credit for it, but he should be taking a lot of bouts now. His team. All in different holes that they filled. They have a number one defenseman, number two defenseman, number three defenseman.
All different holes that he tried to fill. He filled all the major ones.
Yeah, you know, it's interesting, Brian. Just back to it's hard to win. Is there a better illustration of Tampa? I mean, that was an awesome series, Tampa and Montreal. Montreal stole game seven. But the Tampa Bay Lightning with John Cooper, top three head coach in the NHL. Andre Vasileski, top five goaltender in the NHL. Braden Point, Nikita Kucherov, great players.
Brian, they're only 2-10 in their last 12 home playoff games, and they've dropped four straight series in the opening round. It's hard to win, isn't it?
It's hard to win. It's really hard to win. And when you get lucky enough to do it, I look at Edmonton, I think they're that close. The final two twice in a row, years in a row. This year, you know, close to that. They've been excellent so far, so long now, three years. And it seems like they're getting farther away by the day now.
Well, that's what some people think. It's incumbent upon Oilers management and their players to do otherwise. But four straight years, the Oilers lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion. Brian, has youth been served in the NHL? You're watching Buffalo and Montreal tonight in round two. The Flyers, even though they're getting bombed by Carolina, made it to round two.
Anaheim's playing Vegas in round two. And Minnesota and Colorado, they're a little bit different. But certainly four young turns. teams taking a step forward here.
Yeah, I think it's so much fun to watch new teams. I know people in Edmonton don't want to hear this, but the fact of the matter is it's good for our game when it's a new block. Having different teams in the final eight is a big thing for our team. So yeah, I think Utah's been served and I think it's a good thing.
All right, Brian, I'm going to put you on the spot. The Toronto Maple Leafs won the lottery. They got the top pick. Is there any way they can't take Gavin McKenna? Yes.

Chapter 3: What changes are expected in the Oilers' coaching staff?
Thanks, Bob. You bet. That is Brian Burke. His appearances are presented by Ultrashine. Commercial cleaning done smarter. Request your free cleaning quote today by visiting Ultrashine.com. And Brian did the playoff roundtable with us today for Friesen Brothers. Use their order ahead app for hot and fresh game day meals that get you back to the TV before the puck drops. So, lots to get to.
Yeah, it'd be quite something to see the Maple Leafs. I think they're going to take Galvin McKenna and I think San Jose is going to take Keaton Veroff. And I think Vancouver is going to take one of Ivor Stenberg or Caleb Malta. So I think those will be the top four picks in the draft. Doesn't mean I'm going to be right, but we'll wait and see.
And I do think you have to factor in that McKenna and Verhoff played in the NCAA and
iris stenberg played in the swedish uh hockey league like it's it's a clear different level than major junior right now as good as the ohl is it's still a good league the whl is not the same league that it once was it's all there is to it the numbers are inflated in that league right now there's no i'm not saying they're like the numbers of the 1980s but back then there was
you know, 12, 14, and then 16 teams in the Western Hockey League. And the Western Hockey League won the Memorial Cup two out of three years. Those days have long since passed. There are 23 teams now in the WHL. It's not the same league. It just isn't. And of those 23 teams, realistically, there's just nowhere near the same player depth.
If anything, the WHL might have to look at becoming a 15 team
to 18 slash 19 year old league and just eliminate the 20 year olds as well what ended up happening is a lot of the best guys that were going to be 20 year olds in the whl went to sort of second tier ncaa programs and some of the top end players out of the western hockey league the aforementioned gavin mckenna like medicine hat ended up losing in six to prince albert in the opening round
You think they lose that series if Gavin McKenna stays with the Medicine Hat Tigers? No chance. Gavin McKenna ends at Penn State, ends up at Penn State. Jackson Smith, defenseman, played for Bob Torrey and the Tri-City Americans. Mid-first round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, ends up at Penn State with Guy Gnowski. And then you have the two kids that left the Victoria Royals, Cole Reschne,
right calgary flames first round a good pick by the flames and the aforementioned keaton verhoff consensus top five pick for this year's round they leave victoria and they go to north dakota and north dakota is a final four ncaa program that's you know what that's a really good program um and the tigers you know they didn't just lose gavin mckenna they lost caden lindstrom
