I think we would agree that Detroit team that he won a cup with was pretty special with some special players on it. Those Olympic teams were incredible.
And on the world stage, he, you know, he did a hell of a good job. You can't take that away from him. Like he has earned those credentials and you can't take that away from him. I will also point out that his last seven years that he was starting on an NHL bench or supposed to start on an NHL bench. He didn't win a single playoff series and got fired twice.
And one of the times he got fired before he even set foot on the bench for a game. So his recent coaching history is pretty mad. You know, there's some of the defensive metrics on a Maple Leafs team that was kind of supposed to be in around their window. Their results were underwhelming. Now, it's not entirely Mike's fault.

That extra layer of the guys who do that for a living, they need to be the safeguard that kind of go, ah, okay.
You know, recognize maybe this, yeah. I've hinted, Ryan, for weeks on this. I'm a big believer that the players needed to be involved in this process because as we both know now, I do not believe that Jeff Jackson as president, when the decision was made to remove Jay Woodcroft, I do not believe the Oilers' top players were consulted on the change to bring in Cristobal.
So, Bob, on Babcock, I'm with you. I think that it was the right thing to do to have Mike Babcock sit down with the Euler players. If you're even considering going down this path, you have to have him sit down with your players because the main allegations against Mike Babcock are about gross...

I know that happens in other sports, but that doesn't happen in hockey. You don't have three players sitting down having a conversation like that with a prospective coach as part of the process.
