Additionally, they get into a conversation about the way the Bronny James process played out between his agent, Rich Paul, and comparing it to previous drafts. (29:05-45:08) – Pacers General Manager Chad Buchanan joined the Wake Up Call With KB & Andy this morning to discuss the NBA Draft and Pacers offseason. Jake and Jimmy highlight a couple of the comments that he made pertaining to the franchise wanting to run things back and the future of Obi Toppin with his upcoming free agency. Dustin also shares his thoughts on the way the Pacers executed the draft, provides an opinion on what number the Pacers won’t feel comfortable paying Obi Toppin, tries to predict which three players will receive two-way contracts, and reacts to Jake’s recommendation for the new name for the Pacers G League team. (1:16:18-1:33:52) – Following their conversation with Dustin Dopirak, Jake and Jimmy shift their conversation to soccer with the United States Men’s National Team losing last night 2-1 to Panama in Copa America. Jake asks Jimmy some questions about what Copa America is and Jimmy voices his displeasure with manager Gregg Berhalter. They also ask about the unique player salary situation the Pacers are in right now if they wanted to trade for a player and if the “injury prone” label would be removed from Anthony Richardson if he plays all seventeen games this season.
