29 Jan 2025

Description

(00:00-23:38) – Query & Company opens on a Wednesday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison comparing NBA franchises to some of the top artists/bands in music history. (23:38-35:18) – Evan Sidery from Forbes Sports joins Query & Company to preview the NBA trade deadline. Evan believes that Jimmy Butler is the first domino that is going to fall, doesn’t believe that the Indiana Pacers will be a team that makes any moves by the deadline next Thursday, and explains the fallout between the Sacramento Kings and De’Aaron Fox. (35:18-46:38) – The first hour of the show concludes with Jake and Jimmy discussing the status of the three main college basketball teams in the state, Indiana, Purdue, and Butler. Jimmy highlights that this will probably be fifth time in the last nine years where Purdue is the only team to represent the state in the NCAA Tournament. (46:38-1:09:21) – As the start of free agency nears, Jake groups the fourteen free agents for the Colts into two categories and has Jimmy and Eddie list two players from each group they would keep. It leads to a conversation about how middling the Colts roster was last season and how there isn’t a free agent that you have to bring back. (1:12:10-1:20:00) – The Indiana Pacers are back states side tonight for the first time in eleven days. Jake and Jimmy debate who the current rival is right now for the Pacers following the last meeting against the Detroit Pistons. (1:20:00-1:32:51) – Hour number two concludes with Jake, Jimmy, and Eddie looking at the Big Ten standings and talking about how consistent Michigan State has been underneath Tom Izzo. It leads to a conversation about Indiana and North Carolina being in similar boats. (1:32:51-1:56:55) – College basketball analyst Mike DeCourcy from the Sporting News and Big Ten Network joins Jake Query and Jimmy Cook to explain the NET rankings and quad one, two, three, and four wins. Additionally, he doesn’t think it’s outrageous to believe that Indiana can completely turn things around, states that he’s not surprised by Purdue’s success because of Matt Painter and does believe that the SEC is still the best conference in college basketball this year. (1:56:55-2:11:02) – Jake and Jimmy shift the focus of their conversation back to the Indiana Pacers. They continue to debate if it makes any sense for the Pacers to trade Myles Turner because of what message it would send to the team and rest of the league. (2:11:02-2:24:20) – Today’s show ends with the JCook Plays of the Day and Jake seeing how many teams Jimmy can guess that are still undefeated in conference plays.Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/query-and-company/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
