Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
The score.
I got five. It's time for Five On It. Raheem Harrison-Roney. Bring you five topics on their minds today. On 104.3 The Score. I got five on it. Number one.
This is Five On It, and it's brought to you by AlmostFreeTeeth.com. Save on dental implants today. In one word, how would you describe the Cubs' walk-off walk, or as Layla likes to call it, shrimp, win over the Rockies in game one?
Seriously? That's my word. Seriously? With a question mark? You won that game? You won the game that you were down in 4-2 in the eighth inning? You went seriously? That's your ninth walk-off win this year. Seriously?
Chapter 2: What are the highlights of the Cubs' recent walk-off win?
It's your second walk-off walk-off? the year as Matt Shaw turns the trick right there Michael Bush did it earlier this year against the Reds seriously you left another 15 men on base left seriously PCA hit for the cycle seriously Phil Maton Does it again. Walks in a guy with the bases loaded. Seriously? Cole Kerrig with a three-run homer? Seriously? That's my word. How'd I do?
You did pretty good. I felt like I was going to be dramatic there.
I thought you did a good job. I let you shine. Seriously? Yeah, seriously is good.
I mean, really. Pedro Ramirez, a game-tying hit in the ninth inning. They come through with runners in scoring position with the bases loaded. Seriously? Yeah. 15 left out. One for 10 with runners in scoring position. Seriously?
My word is very simple. Think Miracle on Ice.

Chapter 3: How does Shota Imanaga's performance impact the Cubs?
Again. Do it again. Again. Again. Again. Again. That's pretty good. 21 wins. That's how many they have at home, the Cubs. Nine by walk-off. To lead baseball. Seriously. 43% of their wins have come by walk-off at Wrigley Field this season. So, when it happened, I wasn't really surprised. I was like, this is just who they are.
They're a team that can't do enough against the team with the worst record in baseball to salt away a game in which they leave 15 runners on base. It takes them until the ninth inning to finally get... A hit with runners in scoring position. Pedro Ramirez. Again. Again.
Chapter 4: What insights does Casey Holdahl provide about Tiago Splitter?
And how many more times will we say again before the season is over? I fear it will be many times that they need this type of, to use your word, theatrics and heroics. Seriously is my word. As Matt Shaw, who should have been in the lineup a long time ago. I'm going to be very honest. When he came off the injured list, why was he not playing?
Big RBI triple last night. Obviously, having patience at the plate was a big move, too, for Matt Shaw.
I've been asked who can hit in the two hole. Matt Shaw can hit in the two hole.
I'd do that for a night.
Matt Shaw, because if he gets on base, he has speed at the top of the lineup. Give it a whirl. There's plenty of people besides Alex Bregman, and I know I'm going way off topic here, plenty of people besides Alex Bregman that can hit in the two hole.
I like again, too, because June 4th, The day that you remember, Cubs fans. The Cubs come back from five down against the A's, win the game, PCA walk-off single, and then the very next day they lose 18-3 to the San Francisco. That's why you're not hearing any of us talking about an inspirational win and why you're saying again. It's just something that they've been known to do.
It's absolutely perfect. A couple good words. Number two. Pico Armstrong became just the 13th player in Cubs history to hit for this cycle. Are you having optimism that PCA could be back? Oh, let's be clear. PCA is doing what he is being paid to do, which is produce. He's the best player on the Cubs. He's one of the best players in baseball. The war tells the story here.
And again, I think the biggest sign that PCA is not only back, but this is who he is. Not maybe this hot, not batting 463 in the, excuse me, 436 in the month of June hot.
But he's a guy who I think is going to look much more like the player who is currently batting .277 with a .351 on base and a .493 slug after a 4-for-4 day in which he also had a sacrifice fly, becoming, as you said, the 13th player to hit for the cycle. The biggest tell on this PCA being different from last year's PCA? Last year's PCA against lefties hit .188. This year's PCA?

Chapter 5: What challenges did Tiago Splitter face as interim head coach?
Last night, after he gets picked off, after he hits the cycle... this really conflicting moment. And his next at-bat, he has another terrific at-bat where he gets that sack fly on the low-sinking liner that I thought was going to touch grass and makes it a 4-3 game.
So you can see discernible differences in PCA's games and things that may not have happened last year, even when he was going through the good times. So I'm going to wait and see how back PCA is, but the goodness is real and the stats that you gave were wonderful.
The 29 walks that he had last year in 647 plate appearances. He had 29 walks. He has 24 walks and only 309 plate appearances this year. Five off of last year's total. That's great. Number three. This is Five On on Rahimi Harris and Grody. Mark Grody, Marshall Harris in today.
Coming in at number three, how confident are you with the White Sox to take game one against the Yankees tonight with Davis Martin on the mound?
I'm always confident when Davis Martin is on the mound with his 9-2 record and his 2-41 debut.

Chapter 6: How did Tiago Splitter's coaching style differ from previous coaches?
And by the way, I don't know if you guys happed upon this, but this is the kinds of things that are happening with this White Sox team this year. He's at 9-2. If he gets the W by his name tonight, Davis Martin would be the White Sox first double-digit winners in a few years since Dylan Cease and a guy by the name of Lucas Giolito.
Doesn't it feel like it was a decade ago that Lucas Giolito was on this team? For sure. Look, Garrett Cole is going for the Yankees tonight. I do feel good with Davis Martin on the mound, but I do fear the Yankees, who have just won two out of three from Toronto. They have been red hot as well.
Garrett Cole obviously had the surgery and just making his fifth start of the season, but my God, Ben Rice... Been following Ben Rice this season. Kids, I know that there's some loud players in the league, but Ben Rice is an MVP candidate. Paul Goldschmidt has been better this year. Old Cody Bellinger is there.
I don't know if I feel good about the White Sox winning this game tonight against the Yankees. Wow. I'm sorry. Wow. Well, I am sorry. Garrett Cole scaring you. Okay. Garrett Cole and just the Yankees in general. This is a really good team that has, like I said, seven and three in their last ten. They've won two in a row. Ben Rice just had the game-winning homer the other day.
They're kind of clicking right now, and this is at Yankee Stadium.
To your point, the Yankees have won five of their last six. Shout-out to the Yankees. We appreciate you sweeping the Guardians in a three-game series.

Chapter 7: What strategic changes did Splitter implement for the Bulls?
That's always useful. It is nice. For all the White Sox followers in town. I'm not afraid of Garrett Cole because, again, have you seen the White Sox lineup lately? Yeah. Have you seen the White Sox lineup lately? Very good. Yeah, his fielding independent pitching of 4.19 is not nearly as scary as that 2.45 ERA. But when I look at Davis Martin's numbers...
and his ERA, and what he's been able to do this season, and the understanding that his FIP is 2.39, which is much more in line with his ERA of 2.41. It feels like this is an opportunity for the White Sox. They just swept a two-game set from the Braves. They just took two of three from the Dodgers. And if you look at the standings, remind me, Mark, because I have trouble with this sometimes.
What two teams have the best records in all of baseball?
Would that be the Dodgers and the Braves?
It would.
Mm-hmm.
You know who's got the fourth best record in baseball?
Would that be either the Sox or the New York Yankees? No, that'd be the Yankees.
This is where the Sox make their hay. For non-believers such as Mark Grody, this is where they make their hay. Davis Martin's on the mound, and you don't even believe that they're going to win with Davis Martin on the mound. I want to remind you of something. The Sox are 11-2 when Davis Martin pitches. The only two games that they've lost when Davis Martin pitches...

Chapter 8: What are the expectations for Tiago Splitter's future with the Bulls?
And the Sox will win this game. Okay. Number four. It has been over 24 hours with the news on the Bulls' new head coach hire in Tiago Splitter, and we have heard a number of national voices who spoke highly of Splitter. You can hit that Rewind feature app on the Odyssey app, and you can hear Brian Geltziler, who joined us right here on 125, saying it was a home run hire.
Are you feeling more confident that this was the correct hire by Bryson Graham and company? Oh, I feel good about the Tiago Splitter hire. Namely because of the success he had last year with the Trail Blazers in what was a moment of adversity. Because Chauncey Billups coached exactly one game and then got arrested. And then he coached the rest of the games and they went 42-39 the rest of the way.
So a 42-40 season, a spot in the playoffs after making their way through the play-in tournament. And Splitter is a guy who's known for development. And when you look at the coaching credentials, it all follows a nice order. As an assistant coach and then a lead assistant, a guy who was deep in development and as a head coach in Europe.
Look, he's done all the work requisite to be in this higher level course. And for Rebuild, because he is just a touch over 40, it fits the timeline just like these young players that they're trying to assemble will fit a timeline. Hopefully he's the coach for a decade plus, and there's success that leads them back to the promised land of the NBA Finals.
Am I feeling more confident this was the correct hire by Bryson Graham and company to bring in Tiago Splitter? I feel exactly the same way I felt yesterday. Nothing has changed. We haven't learned that much. It was good having Geltziler on yesterday because he did share with us some specifics about the style of play, which was up-tempo in Portland.
I assume that that will be the desired style of play with this new Bulls team as well, as it was, obviously, last year under Billy Donovan as well. So that was kind of like one of the more important or exact things that I heard about Tiago Splitter yesterday. The idea of working with young players continues to fascinate me.
You know, the 23 and under league with France, getting some young players involved. Over there as well with the Brazilian team, they win the gold medal there. The fact that he has been an assistant in Brooklyn and Houston to go along with his work in Portland. Like I said, on the surface, the resume still looks pretty good. I still want to know more.
I can't wait to hear from him tomorrow, which is expected to be at 3 o'clock, for his press conference to learn more where he is philosophically. Hear it in his words. Hear it more specific as it pertains to the Bulls because there's a whole world, I think, of Tiago Splitter that we don't know yet. And that's not a bad thing. We just don't know yet.
Number five. Final one here for five on it. Bears wide receiver Khalif Raymond joined NFL Network yesterday and shared this interesting fact from one of his tattoos.
