Layla Rahimi, Marshall Harris, Mark Grody, Rahimi, Harrison, Grody on 104.3 The Score. Got a base hit right on right in the 7. This one to short. Turner to stop. And the throw gets him. A double play ends the ball game. 6-4-3. And the Sox come up short. In the third game of this series, they fall 9-5.

They are two back of Cleveland in the division, if you would like.
Chapter 2: How did the White Sox perform in their recent series against the Phillies?
The one red alert area, red alert's too dramatic. The one issue that you can circle from yesterday of consequence in the game, even if you are being positive about the White Sox, David Sandlin only goes three and a third, allowing three runs on two hits, allowed a couple of home runs, 81 pitches. He actually came in after the opener, Tyler Gilbert, yesterday.
So that's like the only area yesterday where I look at and say, oh, man, I want better for David Sandlin, not two straight rough starts for him.
Yeah, it's kind of rough because even though it was 2-4, I'm just kind of happy that they didn't get swept, if that makes sense, because you lose a lot of ground when you get swept.
You do, and it's the Phillies, and they've been playing better baseball recently.
Yeah, I think they've had the best record in baseball, it's either them or the Brewers, since Don Mattingly took over.
Donnie Ballgames!
Yeah, since his son Preston promoted him from bench coach to manager. I know that nepotism exists, but this is the most unique nepotism I think I've seen. But Don Mattingly has experience as a manager, and he's been on good teams as a manager, so I get it. It all makes sense. I think for me, this whole White Sox... of them going on the road trying to figure it out.
Remember, they haven't won a road series in a month now since they took two or three in San Diego. They haven't won a road series since then. And they've got to find a way to be better on the road if they're going to have a chance to make the playoffs because eventually some of these other American League teams chasing them in the wildcard standings are going to pick things up.
But I'm very encouraged by the way the offense has responded Without Munataka Murakami, we know he's going to be out for four to six weeks with that strained hamstring. One week is now down, and the offense hasn't let up. They've actually scored more runs per game since he went down than they had when they had him in the lineup. That is encouraging.

Chapter 3: What concerns were raised about David Sandlin's performance?
Because he has been very good. I guess a bit of a revelation this year.
You're waiting for the bottom to fall out, aren't you?
That's it. And I don't know if that's beyond pessimistic. That's cynical. I think that's you as a Cubs fan watching pitchers. Maybe, but Anthony Kaye. on Friday against the Phillies, and it's the Phillies who can swing the bat really well.
Anthony Kago's four innings allowing six runs on 87 pitches, and that one he even had the early 2-0 lead in that game, which the Phillies eventually won by a final score of 8-6. So it's kind of like that. I'm watching Sean Burke, and again, they had the opener Saturday. I don't know. The Sox with the opener, you don't know when they're going to, but they use it a couple times this week.
Can I remind you of Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper? That's why they use the opener. It's very simple. Thank you. Two guys who can really just put you in a hole before you even get started.
That's absolutely fair. No further discussion, Your Honor.
No, but seriously, I'm good with the opener and that specific usage with this particular staff.
No, that's absolutely right.
I think that my concern comes, I was excited about the homestand in this way. Davis Martin originally had been pitching in front of Eric Fetty, right? but they wanted to give him a little more time. He's pitched a lot this season. He's a big arm. If he pitches on Tuesday, they get to use him in both the series against the Braves and the series against the Dodgers.

Chapter 4: How has the White Sox offense responded to injuries?
Sometimes you will see what appears to be a really nice play by an outfielder, but no, that's because they took a wrong angle or they took a step back instead of taking a step forward, and it comes across as a terrific play when it's not. There's some of that with Sam Antonacci. Let's be honest here.
When you see that cut late to what he's doing and the play he's making, and then they show the replay of how it started, you're like, oh.
Yeah, yeah. There's some of that. Hey, man, it's a tough spot. He's an infielder who they said, go play left field. Figure it out. And so he's being left to his own devices.
I think he has figured it out, though, for the most part. Has he? Yeah.
Wow. That's a quick study, man. All of a sudden, he's a great left fielder.
I think based on what you had in him before he was asked, hey, go play outfield because that's where we need help, and what he's been able to do since being called up to the big leagues, I think he's done a better than admirable job overall.
I think that's fair. Defense bleeds to office. He's not a plus outfielder yet, though. You don't look at Sam and say... Oh, no, no.
I'm saying plus in terms of where he started, and he's already better now than where he started.
And you could make the argument that if that improvement continues after a year or maybe two, he will be a very... Because I think he has enough speed to make up for some of the initial reaction.

Chapter 5: What impact does Noah Schultz's injury have on the pitching staff?
Double up, kid. Is getting him opportunities to stay in the lineup as a left fielder.
I want the best for Sam Antonacci. I just want him to continue to be in the lineup. Did you say he's your favorite player now? Oh, yeah. Not even close to Munataka Morikami? Too easy?
I don't think Mune was ever my favorite player on the white side. Look, I get the... You're more of an old school guy, aren't you? Like, do stuff that makes me happy. Yeah. Swing and miss, I'm not a big fan of. And so, Antonacci and his lack of swing and miss, and the fact that he just... The effort will never be questioned.
I think he having 28 strikeouts and 191 plate appearances, that sounds like a guy that's not going to strike out 100 plus times over the course of a 550 plate appearance season. I like that. Get on base and then do stuff once you get on base. And he's done that to a great degree.
Okay, give me this then, Sam. This is just to Sam Antonacci. Just take two games off of getting hit by pitches. Just take two, like really work on, maybe step back a half an inch from the plate. Just give me two games of no HBP.
I'm on the other side. Put on the Barry Bonds gear and do your work.
