Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Rahimi Harris and Grody. That's a show trying to win a Marconi right there. Middays 10 to 2 on 104.3 The Score. Really good off-season program.
talked with the players this morning and we really accomplished a lot just in terms of the goals that we set out strength and conditioning first and foremost technique fundamentals scheme installation and then some situational football which we've continued to to work on and we'll get another good day of again today so um really pleased with how they're working i said to you guys a few weeks ago that it's a really hard working group uh they're taking it very seriously very professional and
Could be more grateful for the attendance we've had so far this offseason program and close it out on a great week this week.
That's Bears head coach Ben Johnson right there. This is the Rahimi Harrison-Grody Show on 104.3 The Score. Lots of talk Bears and maybe other things as well with our next guest. He is Mark Potash, founder of markpotash.net, Sun Time sports writer from 1987 to 2025, and it wasn't that long ago, 2024.
Chapter 2: What insights does Mark Potash provide about the Bears' 2026 season?
the Illinois Sports Writer of the Year. He is Mark Potash. Potsy, what's going on? Thanks for joining the show, bro.
Hey, Mark, Marshall. How are you guys doing? We are doing well. You're doing well.
It's still June, right? It is June. It feels good. Bear's breaking. He's making sure. Yeah, I'm really good, and I'm excited to have you on, Mark, because I love how you've got range. You can talk about anything and everything. But I guess we should start with the Bears, right?
I think so. I think so. I think that with the off-season program, we should probably start with the Bears.
So, Mark, I just want to know, because you've got that vision, what was your biggest takeaway now that we're in this kind of break period before training camp starts from mandatory minicamp and everything that happened before that to where you sit now looking at the Bears going into the 2026 season?
To me, the biggest thing, they set up their offense to really take a big jump, as much of a jump as they took last year.
If I'm looking at anything, I know their defense, they have questions, and they did fortify it with their first-round pick, but I think their offense is going to be kind of the star of the show and what they're going to hang their hat on, and I think that's kind of one of those things. People say, I ask, well, what are you looking for at training camp? Training camp's training camp, but...
I'm looking to see an offense that kind of hits the ground running. This is the best offense that has returned for the Bears since Mark Trestman's second year, maybe even better than that. This is unusual circumstances. The Bears should not be on training wheels on offense at training camp, and I'm expecting them to kind of, like I said, be the star of the show and kind of be their anchor. Yeah.
Yeah, so right now I think that was the biggest thing of the offseason is that it's year two, and they have the best offense they've had in a long time.

Chapter 3: How does Mark Potash assess the Bears' offensive potential?
I just don't know if they'll be as fortunate.
Rahimi Harrison-Grody on the score. That is the voice of Mark Potash, as I said, the founder of markpotash.net, which is very entertaining. He's got his various sports up there, his collector's corner, Blast from the Past, which is great, because Potash, you are a bit of a historian, and you have covered a lot of things. And I know that you write about other things other than the Bears game.
Read your article a while back about comparing the Cubs pitching staff to what happened in 1985 for the Cubs when all the starters got injured.
I could rerun that story like three or four times every time they put somebody on the injury list.
But yeah, that's true. It's unbelievable, the parade of pitching with the latest being Edward Cabrera. But I want to ask you about our teams a little bit here because Mark Podash is a massive baseball fan, and he is actually for a really, really, really one of those people who likes the Cubs and Sox equally. I am going to ask you about the Cubs first, though. Is this season still salvageable?
What do you think about this Cubs team?
Well, I think it is salvageable. I still think they have a good lineup. I'll be honest. I mean, I felt all along that they would snap out of it. And I have to admit, they're kind of proving me wrong because they just – I think it's more of a mental thing. They just can't – I think they're giving in to kind of all the pressure that's building up.
When you see a team hit as poorly, a lineup as good as that that hits as poorly as they do with runners in scoring position, I think that's one of those things you can't say, well, eventually that'll fix itself. That's a problem. So I do think in their division, I think, again, they're a good defensive team. They're solid. They're above average defensively in several positions.
Overall, they're good defensively. Their lineup is good from top to bottom when it's good. It's not going well right now. So I still I don't think this season is lost by any stretch. But at some point you can no longer say it's June because pretty soon it'll be July and then August and they've got to do something.

Chapter 4: What challenges does the Bears' defense face going into the season?
Thanks, Mark. Marshall, always good to talk to you guys. Thanks for having me on. I appreciate it.
Absolutely. No, thank you. We appreciate his information and his passion and his skepticism and his optimism, wherever warranted. The knowledge, the insight. Oh, all of it. Coming up next, speaking of knowledge and insight, this is where I shine with my knowledge and my insight. We are going to play the game, How Many Bears?
It's literally a game that you invented, so I would hope that you would be on top of your game on this.
Invented, and it's still evolving, and the rules are changing on the daily, it feels like. But we'll play How Many Bears next on Raheem Harrison Grody on the score.
