Reflect month by monthTake a look back at the past year, month by month, using tools like your calendar, diary, or photo gallery to jog your memory. This process helps you uncover forgotten moments, both big and small, that shaped your year. Examples: A coffee date with an old friend. Completing a long-awaited project. A walk in nature that cleared your mind. 2. Celebrate your winsPause to honour your achievements, big or small, and recognise moments where you showed up for yourself or others. Examples: Setting boundaries in a problematic relationship. Staying consistent with a self-care routine. Finding joy in everyday moments, like family laughter or a quiet morning coffee. 3. Reflect on challengesIdentify the challenging moments you faced and the lessons they taught you. This isn’t about dwelling on the negatives but recognising how those experiences helped you grow. Examples: Navigating a health challenge and learning to prioritise rest. Saying no to draining commitments. Discovering your resilience during a difficult situation. 4. What would you do differently?Think about moments where you could have approached situations differently. This isn’t about regret but gaining clarity for the future. Examples: Responding to frustration with patience instead of anger. Overcoming self-doubt to seize an opportunity. Being more proactive in addressing a challenge. 5. Choose a guiding word for the yearSelect a single word to act as your anchor or compass for the year ahead. This word should represent what you want to embody or focus on. Examples: Abundance—seeing richness in everyday life. Ease—embracing simplicity and calm. Growth—focusing on personal and professional development. Following these steps will give you clarity and direction for the new year, ensuring you move forward with intention and purpose. Here’s to redefining midlife and making our next half of life even better than the first.
