What pressures shaped JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette's early lives?
Why have three Gilmore Girls in a small town resonated with generations of fans? And what does a TV series that ended nearly two decades ago reveal about who we want to be? Generation Gilmore Girls is a brand new three-part podcast series that looks for answers where it all began, in Connecticut. Hosted by me, Chloe Nguyen, and produced by Connecticut Public.
The same award-winning NPR and PBS member station behind the chart-topping podcast Generation Barney. This series is about the TV we love and how it shapes us. We'll take you inside the creation of Gilmore Girls, why we keep revisiting it, and the impact the show has had on its home state.
Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the show, this podcast offers fresh insights and heartfelt nostalgia. Follow Generation Gilmore Girls on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you're listening now. Trust me, it's worth the trip back to Stars Hollow. Welcome back to Write Answers Mostly, a podcast on what you didn't learn in history class, but you really wanted to. My name is Tess Palomo.
And my name is Claire Donald. And this is the second episode of Kennedy's Month, and we are really doing it all. No, we really are. We have range. Well, the Kennedys, I guess, have range, too. They have range, too.
we have range and i wanted to do this episode because well first of all you know it's topical and we always are trying to because the show's on i think right now or like when this is out i think the ryan murphy show is going to be aired this week well we know that ryan murphy is always watching us because ryan murphy is our biggest rammy like truly our biggest fan well because i think what he does is he goes to spotify goes to write answers mostly he closes his eyes and then just picks an episode he's like well i'll make a show about that next
Exactly. It would be nice to collaborate on it, but it's okay. It really would be. Or call us. We don't own these subjects. Feels like we do. It does feel personal. And we could. But this, I have always been interested in these two people. And I think what was enticing to me about it is like,
You're always seeing pictures of them on TikTok and it's always like the fashion, the vibes, the romance. And I found in my research that so much of that is completely going to be debunked because shit was toxic. I mean, I guess I could see that just from the park pictures. Everyone knows the fighting park pictures. Crazy. But I kind of am like, oh, I love it. I know.
And, like, they loved it, too. But that's why, like, we're all just going to have so much fun with this episode because, like, they knew exactly what they were doing. They, like, loved being so deep in, like, a pretty toxic cycle. They both were so hot. Oh, my God. And it is a story that ends in true tragedy. So it's very ram-coded in every aspect.
And I guess before getting into it, what did you – or what do you think of them – As like, what are your ideas about them as a couple? Yeah. Well, not to be annoying, but hot. Like, I mean, it's the first thing that comes to mind is like hot and chic. Yeah. I appreciate that her name is Carolyn because that's my family's name. We've got lots of Carolines in the family. Not Caroline. Carolyn.
