Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Thanks for joining us. For those of you who wake up to us, I should say, at 7.01. Very good morning to you if you missed any of the first hour. It was a little bit loose, as always. You can catch up on that wherever you get your podcasts. From Sammy Edmund with all the news a little bit later on and our review of Geelong coming to town against Brisbane and knocking them off convincingly.
What a performance. But right now, for Signet, life's never flat when you power every moment. with the Signet Power Bank, signet.com. It is a big game on Saturday afternoon, twilight at the MCG. A couple of big changes for both teams, more so for the Hawks. No Barris, no Nash, no Gunston, no Butler who's been dropped. Connor McDonald and Jack Ginneman both play their 100th games.
The coach, the genius, SEN's own is Sam Mitchell. He joins us. Sammy, thanks for your time.
Yes, thanks for having me. Hello, Kingy. Hello, Kane.
It's a good game, and it presents some challenges. They're playing must-watch footy. What have you had your eye on with the Demons as you prepare for this one?
I think I have seen the same thing that everyone else has. When you watch them, they look like a very potent, very energetic and well-put-together team. So we've got... No easy games in this fixture the way we're going. So Melbourne are going to be very, very good. And probably for the best part of 15 years, Max Gaworn has been... a big thorn in everyone's side, so that's an issue as well.

Chapter 2: What challenges does Sam Mitchell anticipate in the upcoming game against Melbourne?
Now, you're not a tagging coach anymore, but if you allow Cozzy Piggott to run around all alone, Sam, I'm going to have to stop referring to you as the genius.
You got a plan? You know what? That might come to my mind at quarter time, to be thinking about that. I mean, we always have contingencies. We always go to players at different times of the game. So what we do is, We've picked out a couple of other of their players. It's interesting. It's always an extra bit of challenge when someone from your team has gone there as well.
So you know there's not too many surprises for them about how we play.
Chapter 3: How has the injury list affected Hawthorn's game strategy?
So Chancliffe will be telling them everything that we do, I'm sure. So, yeah, it'll be good to see him. But making sure that we get their key players out of the game early once they start to run hot will be important.
Sounds like they might have the whiteboard out for the strengths and weaknesses sort of action going on from Chankworth. But anyway, I won't take you down that path. Who's the bigger out for you, Barris or Gunston? Hang on, put the pick and stick music on, please. You can only pick one. Who is your bigger out, Barris or Gunston?
I was just going to avoid the question, but now you've given me the music. No, I would say Gunston because, to be honest, PB was probably planned to be out. for a game of this rung. We've got a five-day break after this, so I think TV may not have played this one or the next one anyway. And Guntham, we didn't really expect that one. So hopefully we'll work in our favour and he'll freshen up.
Feel pretty good. He's just got a bit of a mid-foot sprain, so that shouldn't take too long, and hopefully he'll be back.
So how flattening is that if you had planned to manage Barris and then he does the hammy just the week before you were probably planning to give him a rest? You just slightly got it wrong, I guess?
Yeah, well, I mean, the match-ups and the travel plan that we had, we thought was pretty well organised. And our list, I mean, we've got a few injuries this week, but still our injury list compared to some other clubs is still... is still pretty good. We've got a few that are just a one-weekers and by next week we're going to be pretty strong again.
So we just need to make sure that we can take Melbourne apart and go from there.
You bagged a few wins. You sit six and a half wins. How do you feel you're tracking? I watch you guys play and I think there's a thirst for more. You're always looking for perfection as a coach, I'd imagine. You're never going to get there. But I'm watching the rest of the competition and they're staking a claim. Where do you think your boys are at right now?
I mean, it's an interesting question. Our draw has been, we've played a lot of the teams that are at the top end of the ladder and we've had some reasonable results against them. But I wouldn't say we've played scintillating footy consistently.
