Chapter 1: What insights do Garry and Tim share about the Gold Coast Suns?
Breakfast with Gary and Tim. Conversation starters. Life's never flat when you power every moment with the Signet Power Bank. Signet.com
We're starting a little bit earlier on our footy. We've got Stephen King coming up out of seven o'clock and then we've got the Starcevich boys in the studio. Brandon and Craig, they've got a new business, Club Scout. We'll find out what that's all about when they wander in. But last night, I'll hand this over to you because I've only got my side of what's happened.
Just before you do that, though, very interesting interview with Hardwick last night on G60. The best part was when Gary noted that the artwork behind Dimmer was a Bromley. Gary then said, I'm glad you didn't move your left shoulder on saying that. Dimmer moved his left shoulder, which sank Gerard and Gary into a tailspin. It was because it was a nude. Yeah. Bromley. Is that right?
Which is what he's famous for. I said to you, how do you know that?
And you said, well, I've seen it many, many times. The interview was great. Okay. So here's a package of what Dimmer had to say, and then we'll unpack all of that. I think it's going to go both ways.
So you're going to hear Dimmer on AFL 360, and then you're going to get the counter on the agenda setters with Tom Morris, okay, who went with pretty much the absolute opposite to what Dimmer had just said.
There's a lot of media narrative around and what the media do is they create these stories that are not necessarily true and the vast majority aren't. You know, there's no accountability for journalists that just sit there and make these spot checks. Everyone's got to be first and they write a story, it gets clicks and it moves on.
Damien Hardwick. It's my belief that his connection to his players and their connection to him is as strained as it's been in his time at the club. It's causing issues all over the place, both on the field and behind the scenes as well.
Consistently linking his name and social media and these things. And we talk about the player's health and wellbeing. You know, we sit there and give it lip service, to be completely honest.

Chapter 2: What did Damien Hardwick reveal in his interview on G60?
We sort of put these players' name in lights. I think we can do a hell of a lot better than what we're doing and the way we're doing it at the moment.
At the moment, Bailey Humphrey is contracting until the end of 2028, but he wants to get back to Victoria. That's the fact of the matter, and it's more of a decision as to whether the Gold Coast Suns will allow him to do that or not. That is unbelievable.
It was an extraordinary 15 minutes when you go from one channel to the next channel and you're hearing from the coach and he's talking about how poor the media is. How they make it up. How they make this. How they're not accountable. How they make this sort of stuff up. There's no accountability. There's always accountability. Whatever anybody says in the media, there is accountability.
Because we all know what's been said, particularly if it's a big story and it has cut through like this story has. Tom Morris, just by the way, I'm not here to defend Tom Morris in any way. I've got no visibility over this story whatsoever, other than a couple of things that are happening. around it, which you can piece together.
But when he started talking about Essendon's coaching position a couple of weeks before they made that decision, which was news to you and news to me and news to a lot of other people, it worked out and it was correct. So in terms of following him and believing what he says and stories that he puts out there into the public forum, then he's got a very good track record.
On this story too, there are other people in football that have been saying that during the break, there'd been a lot of activity around Suns players and whether or not that had affected them in any way.
Do you think other clubs are targeting this Gold Coast Suns specifically? 100% I do. 100% I do. In the buy, they're up there just launching on them.
Well, I think that's what's happening everywhere though, Gary. During the bye is a very good time to go and talk to players who are potential recruits for your club, and that's been happening. But it just so happens there's a lot of players there that are targeted, are being targeted by other clubs in the competition. So it could have an unsettling effect.
But to say that there's a strained relationship and connection between coach and players and others at the football club, that is a very strong accusation. Yeah. Nothing would upset a club more than hearing somebody talk about that publicly the way that Tom Morris did last night.

Chapter 3: How does media narrative affect the perception of the Gold Coast Suns?
Well, it's not funny because it's someone's career we're talking about. But these are the two sides of the story. You can get to choose who you want.
Do you think that you need to then address this publicly, the Gold Coast Sons, over what happened last night and the fact that there's this- Well, he's going to get asked about it. There's this narrative out there, okay, that they're not going to be able to shut down. There's a narrative out there and it's been repeated by a lot of different journalists out there now that there is this unrest.
Now- You can... I asked him directly last night.
I said, have you got a happy club?
Yeah. But he might think that he has a happy club. That's the point. Right. And at the same time, there can be players that are talking to their managers. And this is what happens. Players talk to their manager about stuff and managers talk to journalists about stuff. And this might...
It could be that this is working in the favour of managers too, that players are going to get drawn out of the Gold Coast Suns over this and there's going to be some disruption there.
Yeah. So in that little grab that we played there, that in a nutshell is what we deal with every day in the world of football. in our world, AFL, which we predominantly play in, is you get bits of information, the clubs deny it, the clubs rail against it, the journo stands by it, then there's the clash, and one way or the other, you find out what happens. I mean... We've seen it so many times.
I guess we've lived it for 25 years now.
And generally, there is some truth in all this. And the rumblings are real. Right now, though, the most important thing is that they go out and they give a great account of themselves this weekend and they beat their opponent this weekend. That's the most important thing because if that doesn't happen, what's going to happen post that game and that performance? Yeah.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of player transfers for the Gold Coast Suns?
These journalists of repute, and I don't mind, everyone's going to irate Tom really highly. He wouldn't put that out there unless he has had some... along those lines, of which he attaches some credibility to it. Yeah, yeah. All right, we've got to take a break.
People who are saying that this is a bit heavy for the ramble, we've got such a packed show, we had to pinch 15 minutes off it, and that's what's been happening of late. Coming out at 7 o'clock, one of the great stories of the year so far, the Melbourne Footy Club are in fourth position, top four after 14 rounds. Who saw that? The coach Stephen King is going to join us out of seven.
