Chapter 1: What is the new segment introduced in this episode?

6.359 - 38.074 Kane Cornes

All right, last week we debuted a new little segment. It was with Tom. I thought Tom just ruined it a little bit, so just you and I. Tom ruined it a little bit. That'll get back. It's time for this. Now on Fireball, this is Hoff or Not. We put David King under the micro... And they can't just all be yeses like you were last week, just so you don't... Oh, now you're going to answer for me.

38.094 - 53.29 Kane Cornes

This is the Australian Football Hall of... This is the highest of high honours in our game. And you've got to decide whether these players make the Football Hall of Fame upon their retirement five years post. Let's start.

Chapter 2: Who are the first players discussed for the Hall of Fame?

54.431 - 73.39 Kane Cornes

And hear me out with Ollie Wines. 279 games for Ollie Wines. He was a Port Adelaide captain. He was a Brown Low medalist in 2021. He was an All-Australian in the same year and he won the club best and fairest. Hoff or not, Ollie Wines.

74.517 - 90.357 David King

Not for me, no. No, but Brownlow medalist, wonderful career, but not Hall of Fame level for me. I like your feedback. I've got an uncomfortableness doing this.

Chapter 3: What criteria are used to evaluate players for the Hall of Fame?

91.379 - 117.504 Kane Cornes

Tommy, where are you, Tommy? I thought the same. Okay. Borderline, maybe, and maybe long, long down the line. Some players wait years and years and years to get in. All right, let's go with Christian Petrarca. 219 games, 215 goals. Premiership player in 21. Norm Smith medal in that game. Four-time All-Australian.

0

117.584 - 125.297 Kane Cornes

He's a dual best and fairest at the Demons, and he was a leading goal kicker in 2019 at the same club. Christian Petrarca, Hoff or not?

0

126.425 - 137.528 David King

He's a yes for me. I think he's shifted a football club. Oliver, Petrarca, Max Korn, I think those three will all get in at some stage.

0

137.708 - 158.76 Kane Cornes

He's a yes for me. Josh Dunkley, 202 games, Brisbane Lions co-captain. He's a three-time premiership player, 16, 24, 25. He won a best and fairest at the Dogs. He won a best and fairest in a premiership year at the Lions. He's a most courageous player, award winner as well in 25. Josh Dunkley, Hoff or not?

0

160.006 - 173.82 David King

I think he's along the Anthony Stevens line. So I'm a yes for Dunkley, even though his game tally is a bit lower than the other guys you've mentioned over the last two weeks. He's a yes for me. Is he a yes for you?

173.84 - 178.244 Kane Cornes

His record is building to Hall of Fame levels.

178.264 - 179.165 David King

Is he a yes for you?

179.686 - 189.996 Kane Cornes

I would reassess Dunkley at the end of his career. If there's another premiership to this and it's four and there's 50 or so more games, then...

Chapter 4: How does Ollie Wines' career stack up for Hall of Fame consideration?

190.297 - 214.515 Kane Cornes

It's going to be hard to ignore. Two more. Tom Lynch, 241 games, 495 goals. He's a dual premiership player in 19 and 20. He's an All-Australian only once. He's a dual Gold Coast Sons Club champion. He's a two-time Richmond leading goal kicker, and he's a four-time Gold Coast goal kicker leading, and he was the Gold Coast captain. Tom Lynch, Hoff or not?

0

216.368 - 219.697 David King

That's a tough one. It's a hard one.

0

219.717 - 221.341 Kane Cornes

This is your best one.

0

221.482 - 223.948 David King

Thank you. It's your best one.

0

224.41 - 226.395 Kane Cornes

The next one's good too.

228.367 - 255.918 David King

This is a terrific one. I'm a bit stumped here. I want to say yes, but I don't know. Look, when you have Walker versus Lynch, I said no to Tex Walker, and he's right on the edge for me, Lynch. I'm going to say yes, because I think being at the Gold Coast, it can be hard work starting it. Start-up club, so I'm giving a bit of grace for that, a little bit of Gold Coast tax. So he's a yes for me.

256.098 - 264.289 Kane Cornes

I think he's a yes for me. He's not an automatic inductee, but sort of 10, 12 years down the line, I think he gets there. Last one is a good one.

264.69 - 265.992 David King

Good one? Better than the last one?

266.452 - 283.322 Kane Cornes

I don't know if it's better, but it's a good one. Tom Stewart played game number 200 on the weekend. He's a premiership player in 2022. He's a five-time All-Australian Tom Stewart and he's a dual best and fairest winner. Tom Stewart from the Cats, the late starter, Hoff or not?
