Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

0.807 - 26.735

This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network. Good evening, good afternoon, good morning. Welcome to another edition of That Millwall Podcast. Today I am joined by my partner in crime, the one and only Omar. He looks like that, as you can see. On my left, your left, my right, whichever way it is. Good evening, Omar. Good evening, mate.

0

26.875 - 41.114

I was expecting some ribs about me not being on for a little while, but I appreciate the warm welcome. Thanks for having me back on, mate. Those watching it, get in the comments and just say, oh, I didn't realise he looked like that. Oh, he's lost a lot of weight or he's put fucking half a tonne on or something, you know. Oh, your airing looks good.

0

41.134 - 52.87

Your forehead's fucking getting bigger, that sort of shit. Just get in the comments for that, mate. That's great. Best one. Best one. I might give you a prize, but yeah. We have an exclusive guest today.

0

52.85 - 81.341

omar the one and only the news at den superstar um the man who who has taken over from those um respectable steps where people are now quoting you on twitter to say any truth in this will um the one and only will scott how you doing mate you are is it is will scott yeah yeah yeah It's a bit weird when people call me William. I think usually my mum calls me that, but people call me William Scott.

0

81.361 - 106.731

But yes, Will Scott. Yeah, good Tuesday. Enjoyed the window. Sort of a bit relieved that we can all get back to focusing on football now. But yeah, it's a good January, I thought. I thought you was going to go Will Scott from the news at the end there, for us to introduce yourself. Who's the other one? What's that fellow who used to do Sillip Bang? What was his name? No idea.

107.171 - 124.627

Someone in the comments will tell you about it. Always, always. Um, listen, it's not live. It is a pre-recorded show. Um, purely because work and everything else is making it a little bit harder with the lives, but we're still doing the content and what we're doing with this one. Um, we're going to look at about half hour or so.

124.647 - 169.037

Uh, and we're just going to discuss this window, this transfer window. We're getting to all of that. Um, In a moment, but obviously as Omar is back and you know what Omar likes, he has to fucking have his intro. So we'll see you in 55 seconds. Language you don't usually hear on television. Millwall in London, Dockland. We'll see you next time.

169.895 - 202.305

Through a good time in this life, we support the lions all our life. This ain't no place for fancy tea. This is fucking Millwall through and through. Don't take me on, I'm very, I'm drunk. There is no way that I'm welcome. Let them out there and say, Millwall to redone. With that Millwall podcast, loud and exciting, I am right here. Oh, well, it's not Friday night, but still, we are here.

202.505 - 227.484

I'll go to my first thoughts on this window. Three big names in. Three potentially very costly names in. Whether or not it might be fees, but I can't see them being on small wages. Your thoughts? Start whichever one you want. To give you a summary of all three, I think, why not?

Chapter 2: What were the main transfers during the January window for Millwall?

763.474 - 781.729

He looked bright. And then they've got this new head of performance. And so hopefully those two factors will mitigate that injury risk a lot. I mean, listen, both Ivanovic and Coburn were fit down the run in last year. They are fantastic. They fired them into playoff contention. They brought out the best in each other. So they've got the quality there in the position.

0

782.391 - 805.398

And I mean, I spoke to Alex Sinabata earlier and he was... he didn't sound remotely concerned about the position. Like he thinks three is more than enough. Um, so yeah, I'm sympathetic, but I think, I think there'll be completely fine if they can get what they had this time last year, there'll be, um, there'll be completely fine. Yeah. I think Langstaff, um, I mean, Langstaff, yeah.

0

805.498 - 822.67

If we got one in there, we'd probably got rid of Langstaff, but I think also Lovelace is, is on the verge of coming back as well. So, you know, I mean, what's your thoughts of the running with, um, With the strikers then, Omar? Yeah, I think you guys hit nail on the head, really.

0

822.69 - 841.386

I don't often say it about you, Mickey, but I think when you look at the options available, we've bettered what we've had. And I think, you know, you think about the front two in particular, the two options that you consider, Ivanovic and Coburn. Firstly, Coburn coming back, scoring a couple of goals like Will touched on. Fantastic.

0

842.107 - 846.652

And also, I think there's less dependence on one of them, as we say.

Chapter 3: How do the new signings impact Millwall's playoff ambitions?

846.732 - 862.98

And obviously, Langstaff is, you know, albeit missing a great chance on the weekend, which could have changed the game so much. I think you've got three options there, all for slightly something different more as well. I think Ivanovic seems to be a jack of all trades. Coburn is obviously a physical threat. And Langstaff's a dogged runner that will give his all for the side.

0

863 - 876.387

And he's starting games and he's making an impact. Love to see him get a goal on the weekend or something to change that a bit of fortune for him. But I think, yeah, I think everything that Will said, I totally agree with. You don't want to disrupt the flow of that squad too much.

0

876.367 - 892.791

Who are you going to really get in January as well that's going to come in and firstly be available in the market and inform or someone that's really going to make an impact? It's a tough one. And I think that you've got assets there that have done well for us and they're going to be valuable to us towards the end of the season, for sure.

0

893.292 - 912.119

I think what you're going to look at is if we'd have gone premiership loan, it would have been like, you know, potentially like with Rake or, you know, when, you know, different players were looking at where they want guaranteed time. They want guaranteed playing time because obviously what you're doing is developing their player for them.

0

912.139 - 937.336

You're paying for the benefit, but you're basically doing there. And if you looked at getting, you know, a striker from the premiership, you're then going to end up ruining either Coburn or Ivanovic's chances and blocking them when they're They know what they need to do. They're the informed people there, as in the club. Langstaff knows where his position is. He's sitting in the middle.

937.376 - 957.547

He's sitting back a bit. He can play quite a few different. If you're suddenly making Coburn sit on the bench because you've got some 19-year-old striker from Man City or Man United, the problem then is that you're going to upset your players, what are yours. And is it worth it? Yes.

957.627 - 967.359

If you'd have got something in, it would have been, I think it would have probably been, if we got the Sheffield Wednesday guy until they started playing hardball, I think it would have been a light for like, we would have got him probably got rid of Langstaff.

969.162 - 987.885

And then does he, does he offer us anything more than what Lang, I know Langstaff isn't necessarily scoring goals and I know he's missing, I know he's missed a few open, but what you get with Langstaff is that he can hold balls up. He can forward balls on. He does have a pass on him. You know, his football mind is second – you know, his football brain is second to none.

988.626 - 1003.646

And you've got to look at – you know, I mean, he does. He sees things and whatnot, and he holds balls up for that little minute to let people get into positions. Okay, he's not scoring, but he offers other bits there. And I think it's the same policy, really, with the right-back. You know, everyone's sitting there screaming, oh, we need a right-back and all that.

Chapter 4: What are the implications of player departures for Millwall's squad?

1334.042 - 1351.347

He says he wants to play aggressive quickly. He doesn't want to muck about that much. You know, you can see they're not like a massive possession team or anything. So I think even against low blocks, just with his sort of desire to shoot through sort of crowded boxes, whatever, and take people on, he'll be useful. And tinkering as well.

0

1351.367 - 1371.803

I think a lot of that just was a byproduct of the injury crisis, right? He was having to play three at the back at times. He was having to just, especially in that festive period where guys were dropping left and right and he had to rotate a lot. So I think it was a byproduct for that. But yeah, he's very flexible. He's always said he's not wedded to one system. You know, when he started...

0

1371.783 - 1392.272

He obviously went one up front, then switched the two up front when he thought Coban and Ivanovic were his two best strikers, two best forwards. And that obviously paid dividends in the run-in. So he's capable. You know, he's not wedded to anything. I think so many players, I've said this before, I've spoken about his sort of tactical noose. And I saw the Paterson interview. He said he, you know,

0

Chapter 5: How does Millwall's squad depth compare after the transfer window?

1392.252 - 1414.986

thing he remembers about Neil is is how much detail he gave when preparing for opponents I think that's the other thing that's a bit understated as well is now fixtures have eased off a bit there's less three games weeks I've got a bit more time um he'll have a lot more time to prepare and and get guys ready for games so I wonder if we'll see it that'll be a bit of an edge or you know everyone has the same amount of time but maybe Neil has a slight edge in that regard

0

1417.008 - 1439.047

Yeah, no, I think you're right. I think that's the difference. And also, if we are going into this final running, I don't think there's any other manager really better suited who's got the experience. You know, he'd done it with Norwich. He's done it with, um, Sunderland. He knows what's it like to go in that run. He knows what's it like to get to the promised land.

0

1439.747 - 1450.761

Um, and yeah, I just think it's, I think it's exciting times really. Um, yes, I know it's obviously traditional Millwall fans will moan about anything. We could have signed, um,

0

1450.741 - 1475.247

messi and ronaldo and mbappe in this window there would have been fans what would have moaned you know that oh well you know we're paying stupid money for fancy boys and all this sort of stuff you can't please them all the time but i think there is a massive amount of positivity and that level of positivity i think shone out yesterday when um

0

1475.986 - 1492.005

there was a lot of talk that Femi was potentially going with, with Ipswich. And the fact, and I'm not going to say, you know, we're not going to sit there and talk what the money, but it was, it was, it was a club record. And we know roughly what, you know, SA went for.

1492.025 - 1511.6

So we're talking a big number, what would have potentially stopped the Belsons putting their hand in their pocket and, and using that money for that purpose. Yet again, James Berylson and Steve Gallen and Alex Neal basically just went, no, he's our best player, no.

1511.62 - 1529.922

And I was speaking to a couple of people today and I said to them that it's thankful that the window's shut at seven because I think if it's shut at 10, we might have had a Fleming scenario where there was a late bid, you know, because I think if they'd have come in with 20 million, I think the club...

1530.205 - 1552.379

you know wouldn't really it would have been really hard to say no then they might have done but I think you know if it had gone to 10 you might have got another offering and then maybe a helicopter ride up to Ipswich but listen Femi's still here um He's not gone. He might go in the summer, but, you know, there was rumours he was going last summer.

1552.439 - 1574.984

But hey-ho, I think he just needs to, you know, keep his head in our promotion fight. Carry on. Don't, you know, don't let his head drop and, you know, what ifs and, oh, look at this and all of that. It will come to you. But, you know, you go out there and prove and get us to the promised land with your goals and carry on scoring.

Chapter 6: What are the expectations for the new players joining Millwall?

1882.149 - 1906.808

We're fourth in a competitive championship season. Fifth. Fifth. Okay. We're fifth, considering the amount of injuries we've had, the amount of injuries we've dealt with. We've had players playing in positions they've not been dealt and they've not really been used to playing. Plus, we had Bender, what was probably the worst loan in the history of Millwall, but

0

1907.294 - 1927.932

we've got through all of that and we're still there in it yeah right on mate that's a little war cry thing isn't it it's just excitement it's very exciting conscious we've got to probably wrap things up but it's just um It's going to be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very good fun towards the end of the season. And you know what? I'm here for it, mate.

0

1927.952 - 1944.598

I'm getting carried away with it already. And I just, you know, I think I'm waiting for the butt. You wait for the butt in a lot of good things. And Millwall in particular, they always let you down. They just do. They'll find their way. However, it just, it feels different this season. I suppose one last question I'll ask all three of us to say. Who's going to make the biggest impact?

0

1944.618 - 1968.538

I think yours is already Watson on the transfers, I guess, Will. Oh, I don't know. I reckon... I reckon Bannon, in a few games where they have to go away, you know, shit conditions, he'll produce the moment of quality. He's the one I think has the highest chance of just... Even in two or three games, that assist, that's all he needs in those 16 games. That's all he needs to do. Love that.

0

1968.558 - 1986.771

Mickey, who's the biggest difference out of the three of them? I agree with him. I think it's going to be Bannon. I think Bannon playing football now without any emotion, as in what he had at Wednesday, without the worry of the administration, without carrying the captain's role and everything else. I think we're going to have two captains on the pitch.

1986.892 - 2008.345

Okay, him unofficially, but I think we're... Cooper at the back, him towards the front. And, you know, when I spoke to James for the Sheffield Wednesday show, he said, you know, when he scores goals, he scores worldies. And you've got to understand that this is probably his last season or two of actually playing professional football in this league.

2008.325 - 2023.768

And he has every chance in the world of potentially getting us to the Premier League or helping us get to the Premier League. And I think that would be a fantastic send off for him to have one season in the Premier League as his final opportunity.

2023.748 - 2046.364

um hi ho but then we might get to the premier league and then we might just sell him to another championship club um because they've gone he helped them he's helped them it can help us now so you know um but no i agree i'm gonna say patterson to be honest i think i just got a feeling he's gonna come in no discrepancy croakham for a job he's done last what 20 odd games whatever it is

2046.344 - 2063.07

I just think, I love a goalie. I sit behind the goal south lower. You've got to always back a goalie in the wall. And I think, I could just see Patterson being a match winner for us in some big games away from home. I hope I'm right. I hope we're all right. I hope you're all fucking amazing. So, yeah. Look, Will, thank you very much. We...
