Chapter 1: What are the initial reactions to Liverpool's 2026-2027 fixtures?
This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network.
It is a fictionless reaction show. The fixtures are here. It feels like the season has already just finished, but we're looking ahead to next season as well. We will be doing bits of transfer stuff on the show as well because that is all go. But a wick here with Craig.
Craig, it's funny because I reckon if you'd have asked me to watch another game of football after the end of the season, I'd have rather stabbed my eyes out than watch that team again. But new manager, a couple of new signings, the fixtures are out. I'm like, get me to fucking Newcastle. Here we go.
book them chains make one off I know it's mad it's mad that you see the same list of teams again just in a slightly different order and you're like oh fucking let's do this we're gonna win the league at home on the final day we're gonna lift the league title then
uh newcastle always an exciting start i don't know whether it's what the the new manager would have fancied uh i'd be interested to know his records uh newcastle because i'm i've watched um kirges and and ariola um you know when it when it's in james's park before but um you know in terms of the fixtures obviously forest at home is a team who have come and beat us twice over the past two years at anfield so that's that's in itself difficult um but i'm just uh
yeah it's mad it's mad just how quickly you're the way in which you think about Liverpool and watching this team flips Yeah Newcastle away it's a tough start but it's a lively one it's a great trip I imagine you know with it being August there'll be a few stay over and stuff like that it's obviously an interesting one because you know Isak
And, you know, Touchwood should be fit and ready to go, hopefully, after the great pre-season. And, obviously, the new signing, Munoz, as well, who Newcastle were after. So, it'll be a tasty one.

Chapter 2: How do the new manager and signings impact Liverpool's upcoming season?
Half-Hall Sunday as well. That's the only one where we know when we're playing Half-Hall Sunday. We're not popular on the TV.
in Newcastle at the minute we find that out last season I know the only people that ate more than us is their own board to be fair the fixture was a similar time last year because we had a decent night out in Newcastle after Rio's late winner but at that point last year I thought Liverpool were going to win absolutely everything I was on top of the world at that point but looking at the fixture list I mean it's a decent start for Liverpool yeah
and i i want i i wanted it there's no easy games let's not say easy games but some people say it doesn't matter who you play you got to play everyone i'm not i'm not in that camp really i do i do believe that fixtures pile up over the winter and if you can get if you can avoid playing top sides back to back that's a positive decent start and a decent running looking at the end there i mean we all love brighton away i mean you know how much you look right in the way it's the last away of the season
in the sunshine. And then I look in there, Liverpool play Bournemouth at Anfield, and Iriola's going to show his Sophie to his old club and be like, nice one for that. Brilliant.
It's OK, it's done the full season. See you later.
I am really excited. I mean, you know, you've got to play everyone, and this season didn't go great, but... There's absolutely no point in dwelling on that now. It's gone. New manager, new set of fixtures. Let's go and win the title.
It's funny, isn't it? Because as a fan, you look at it both in terms of what will be best for the new manager and the team in terms of a title charge or what gives you the best start, the greatest end, blah, blah, blah. And then you start to look at it on a personal note, don't you? It's like, what games are you looking at and thinking you're most excited about here?
I mean, Holloway on Boxing Day, I'm more excited about than what it should be. There's a decent little pub there. We wait Richie, his missus has got a pub just outside that we went to like years and years ago. And we saw her at a wedding and she was like, come down, I'll put a band on and all that. We're like, well, hopefully we get a good day. So Boxing Day, hopefully they make it eight o'clock.
With a little hat on, a little Christmas hat. I can see it. All day in this. Listen, personally, I gave my mates and family a down source of Ipswich way, and we were hoping for a summer one, and that's early September.

Chapter 3: What challenges does Liverpool face with their opening fixtures?
the maddest places to go for a night out so would fully recommend 5th of September we actually stayed just in Radness which is about an hour away but it was brilliant so really looking forward to that and then getting Brighton away in May is a bit of a gift isn't it we had a run of Brightons in January it felt like I might do a week
Do you fancy a week in Brighton? Cheeky week. The big question I've got is Everton on the 28th of November, are we able to sing Christmas songs in that? Or is it too early?
My next question was, I'm sure everyone's going to be interested to win the derby, and we normally get a Christmas derby. The 28th of November feels... If you do something... That could be Christmas. Yes, Christmas. If you do something dramatic there, I'm carrying that one right into December.
All the way. A few things to be conscious of. I mean, a lot of people will just be obviously looking at the fixtures. They've only just come out. Neil is on holiday, but he's still done as a spreadsheet because spreadsheets are a holiday for him. It is fair to say. You've got to do what makes you happy on holiday. And for Neil, it is spreadsheets. It has to be said.
So he's put the Champions League fixtures. it already sort of for us so a few things to bear in mind so city at home which is probably the first big game in terms of if we are going for the title and let's say we are i agree with the boys let's get excited so we are going for the title the first game against a likely rival is city at home on um Is it the 11th of October?
That's straight after a two-week international break. Well, three weeks technically. So that international break this year is twice as long. So that's one to watch. So we play Bournemouth away and then there's three weeks till the next game, which they come back to is Man City at home. And then there's a Champions League game, the second group game straight after that.
And then it's away at Brentford. So that's a tricky little week. That Brentford obviously has been a tough place for Liverpool to go. Got beat there.
last season haven't won there a lot really and so yeah that'll be a tough little week that's City at home a Champions League game that we don't know yet and then Brentford away another one to look out for late October so 31st of October this is at the moment that'll probably get moved to the Sunday that one but Arsenal are home so we'll
31st of october we've got out of the home then there's champions league week the fourth game and then palace away which is another one that tends to be tough another team who beats us away from home last season there's a lot of them and then there's another international break and then straight back after that international break we've got united at home that was after an international break last last year they lost that game they lost a lot of games uh the last season that's one of them

Chapter 4: Which fixtures are considered crucial for Liverpool's title charge?
The more random the location is better as well.
I do like tell Craig.
I don't want any traffic news that is any use to me. I want traffic news that's funny. I hope it clears up for you and they're going to really do.
Yeah, and Clive points out Bournemouth at home last game of the season seems a bit scripted for the manager in a good way. And I hadn't clocked that, I just thought it was a home game. But imagine him lifting the title against the team that he's come from. I reckon they'd be quite happy for him. There's no reason why Bournemouth don't want Liverpool to win the league rather than whoever it is.
So I think they'd be quite pleased for them. I think they'll stay for the trophy lift. I think they'll stay for the trophy lift and it'll be a hell of a party. Give the mates a big cheer.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely. Anything else jumping out for you? The size of that international break. I mean, we haven't talked about that. It's a big two-weeker, isn't it? Which is a big break from the football and then you come back to Man City at home. That's a big one for me.
about that international break for quite a while because of neil uh neil has talked a lot about like what we're gonna do during i think it ends up being like pretty much three weeks um the one i'm looking at is in uh so that's i'm counting the months here that there's there's the champions league semi-final one chelsea at home champions league semi-final two uh city away so that's a business end
So what we'll have to do is win that first semi-final 4-0. 100%. And then rest a load of lads for the second semi-final. Because obviously City will have been knocked out by then.

I think it is going to be a journey. It is going to be a bit of a rollercoaster. There'll obviously be ups and downs this season. It's not going to go perfect, but I think it's going to be an exciting one.
And I think the gang of the lads that we end up with are going to be worth it.

That's a shame. Well, I'm going to drink one of them tonight. Up the heads.
