Veronica Romney says: Growing up with the entrepreneurial spirit of my Cuban immigrant parents as my backdrop, I always knew I was destined for a life in business. But it was a serendipitous detour that unveiled my true passion: marketing.As a student, I was drawn to all things math (Love you Calculus!) and initially majored in Accounting, only to discover in college that it wasn’t the ‘real’ math I loved. I quickly switched to Finance but struggled to secure an internship in the field. The only internship opportunity available at the time was in Marketing, so I took it, thinking of it as a brief detour. Little did I know, this ‘settlement’ would literally ignite an obsession.Marketing, to me, is the art and science of ethically persuading someone to say ‘YES’ to what another has to offer. It’s about helping people achieve their greatest aspirations and avoid unnecessary suffering. Marketing changes lives and shifts societies with its messages. It’s a powerful tool wielded by some of the most hardworking, creatively gifted, unapologetically ambitious professionals I’ve ever known.For over 15 years, I’ve been in a faithful, committed relationship with Marketing.But it’s no longer just the clever campaigns or the intricate strategies that captivate me. It’s the people behind them—the unsung heroes of our craft. My professional journey has evolved from mastering the tools of Marketing to empowering the hearts and minds of those that wield them. Every day, I’m inspired by their stories, their challenges, and their triumphs. For me, Marketing isn’t just a profession; it’s a shared journey with some of the most passionate, dedicated individuals I’ve ever met.
