The Brain Surgeon's Take

Mecole Hardman - The 2021 NFL Season

14 Dec 2021

Description

There’s a reason why Mecole Hardman’s nickname is ‘The Jet’; blink once and you’ll miss him, blink twice and he’ll be celebrating in the end zone. Mecole was an All-American in High School and recruited to play at the University of Georgia. By his sophomore year, Mecole took off with full speed, racking up all-purpose yards at every turn. He finished 2017 with 1,255 AP yards and six total touchdowns, enroute to helping Georgia win the SEC Title and reach the National Championship Game. In the National Championship game, Mecole was responsible for two of Georgia’s touchdowns; an 80-yard catch and run and a one-yard run in. As a Junior, Mecole was named an ESPN First Team All-American, leading to his early entry into the NFL draft where the Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in the second round as the fifth overall wide receiver selected. As a rookie, Mecole ended up finishing the 2019 regular season with over 1,400 AP yards and seven total touchdowns leading to a Pro Bowl selection and spot on the Second Team All-Pro, the only rookie to have both honors. Mecole and the Chiefs capped off their glorious season by capturing the Lombardi Trophy in a win over the San Francisco 49ers, the second in franchise history and first in over 50 years. Going into his third season in the NFL, Mecole is a big part of the Chiefs offense while still leaving opposing defensive backs in his dust trail.
