Chapter 8: What changes might Essendon make after their performance in Perth?
There's no one hotter in the game at the moment.
I've given this one some thought, Crawford, so... We'll see how we go.
Okay, we've got the Saints taking on the Hawks Thursday night. Marvel, the Saints coming back from Fremantle. That's a big trip. The Hawks coming back from Tasmania after a good win over the Adelaide Crows. The Saints were a bit disappointing towards the end of that match, but they were playing one of the best going around in the Fremantle Dockers.
And the Hawks starting to build towards something. Will Day. Will they play him or not? Back. They're tossing up. Should they or shouldn't they? I think they should resist a bit longer, but they'll probably name him in the side anyway.
Hopefully he plays Croft. I think he's too good a player to play two weeks of AFL footy. You need to get him in, I reckon, and limit his minutes and get him to play AFL. I think there'll be nothing better than seeing him in the midfield for Hawthorne this week. But this will be a tough game. But I think Saints coming back from Perth, it's obviously โ
That's a long flight, a lot of long travel for Saints. But, no, I'm tipping Hawks here at Crawford. I went against them last week against Adelaide, but this week I'm going with Hawks. I think they'll be a little bit too strong for St Kilda. It'll be interesting to see. The game plan, Ross Springs against Hawthorne, if it's a fast place, there's no doubt that'll suit Hawthorne.
What St Kilda do, do they slow up the ball movement, will be very interesting sort of take away. what Hawthorne want to do. So it's going to be an interesting game.
I think Marvel Stadium is a big advantage for the Saints. So the Hawks need to be on and they've been a touch sluggish for the last month, the Hawks. So game on. I'm leaning towards the Hawks, but... Confidence not high. Carlton are taking on, Carlton are back. All the supporters are talking about making the finals, sneaking into top 10.
They're taking on the Cats, who a lot of people are talking about them being premiership favourites now. This is at the MCG, Friday night. Can the Blues get the momentum of their supporters coming and believing again and get up over the Cats? And their record's red hot. They did win pre-season match.
