We'll start that. We'll do a lot of it next week. We are days away. We're no longer weeks away from the official start of the 2026 primary season. And if you're a political junkie And you're signed up for me on this. I know what your expectations are. So we're going to dig into the numbers. We're going to dig into the weeds.
We're going to see some interesting closing ad by Mr. Tallarico on that side. And of course, we've got such a... We know the Republicans are going to a runoff. What we don't know is whether the Democrats end up in a runoff. And I will get to that in a bit. And I, you know, have a... You know, normally I... Right.
I sort of end my weekend with a little bit and I get a lot more notes saying that I've made some of you college football fans or at least more conversant on college football. Obviously, I'm not going to. I promised I wouldn't be, you know, doing the offseason, you know, NIL scandal of the week. So instead.
Let's just say I have some strong opinions about the nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but we will put that towards the end. But let me start with. sort of the initial fallout from sort of after a day of the State of the Union. You know, I gave you my initial thoughts literally about 15 minutes after Abigail Spanberger said goodnight on that.
So those were fresh perspectives without sort of – and it really was sort of in many ways a derivative of the live stream that Chris Saliz and I did in partnership with C-SPAN and YouTube – Which, by the way, we just had a blast doing that.

But I say that because what I take away on the first day after a State of the Union is what do the two parties want to talk about in the wake of the State of the Union? And in particular, right, like what what do certainly when you look at it from the perspective of Trump, what is the Trump White House want to be this the second day story? And I think it's pretty clear.
And it now sort of reinforces sort of what I believe. the mission was on Tuesday night. And that was to try to essentially get the base back, back into the high 80s, low 90s in his approval rating, rather than where it started to slip, depending on the poll you look like. Low to mid 80s, even high 70s. There had definitely been some erosion, not a collapse, but an erosion in his base.
