The compassion (r)evolution: From easing suffering to awakening flourishing - Dr Marcela Matos

Dr Marcela Matos presented the Keynote Address at the 2023 UQ Compassion Symposium. Her title was "The compassion (r)evolution: From easing suffering to awakening flourishing." Marcela gave us a delightful, insightful, and inspiring talk, taking us through her personal and research journey from shame to compassion. A wonderful, enthusiastic audience was there to welcome her and be moved by her talk. And they received a special treat: the first presentation of Marcela et al.'s, epigenetic research showing changes in gene expression following compassionate mind training! There were occasional technical challenges in the recording (we did all of that part on a shoestring budget), so apologies in advance for those sections where the camera was a bit shaky or the audio became less clear.
