So I asked, he answered, and we bantered about our experience working together and sharing all aspects of our lives over the last decade – since before Epheriell even began. As Jess started her business, Nick kept the household side of things running. Over time, Nick started picking up some of the support and administrative tasks. “We do what we do to enjoy our lifestyle.” {Nick} Nick started developing skills in jewellery making – starting with prepping earrings and from there taking on more and more jewellery making tasks. This frees up time and energy for Jess to focus on the creative side of the business. “The business and the rest of our lives are not really separate.” {Jess} Jess and Nick have set work hours, tasks and routines. Separate offices and workshops mean that while they are both in the same vicinity they are not up in each other’s space all the time. “It’s not a stress to talk about work outside of work because it’s our business.” {Nick} Nick and Jess have complementary skill sets. Jess focuses on creative pursuits and Nick focuses on admin and household. Getting Jess to handover tasks to Nick can be challenging. Once the task has been handed over it frees up lots of mental space for Jess.
