Chapter 1: What makes Jackson Irvine a unique footballer?
A listener production.
Okay, are you recording?
Jackson Irvine. This is a man that's taken St Paul into the Bundesliga. He's played through Europe. He's played 80 times for the Socceroos, including a couple of World Cups. He's a style icon. He's got his own radio show, which you need a login to listen to, which you'll hear in the main episode. Jackson, are you ready for the Howie Games player profile questions? Let's go for it.
Okay, nicknames. What are yours? Jacko and Jacko only. That's a good, solid start. What is your favourite food, Jacko?
Chapter 2: How does Jackson Irvine balance football with his other interests?
Pizza. Always pizza after a game. Pizza. If someone was coming round to your sort of nice artistic set-up there in Hamburg in northern Germany and you were trying to impress them with a meal that you are cooking, what are you going with?
I'm not the greatest chef, but I can whip up a decent spag bol, so we'll go with that.
Is there a special ingredient? I like to add tomato soup to mine, and my wife said, no, you can't do that. Have you got a special little tip for your bolognese or not?
I tend to overdo the sugar a little bit sometimes. I like my bol a little bit sweeter, so yeah, a bit of brown sugar.
Okay, I like that.
Okay.
What was your first ever job? First thing you did where you earned some money.
My first ever job was to listen to the 3AW broadcast of the AFL and log all the times that they did the sponsor spots.

Chapter 3: What is Jackson Irvine's favorite food and cooking style?
Really? Yeah, that was my first job.
Right. Well, this is right in my wheelhouse. Who was your favourite commentator listening to them all on 3AW?
Who was your guy or girl? Oh, my God. We're going back about 20 years here. Was Rex still at 3AW at that stage or not? Yeah, it was. Yeah, yeah. Big Rexy. No, it was all around that time. That's your first job.
That's a different one.
Chapter 4: What was Jackson Irvine's first job and how did it shape him?
What was your first car?
My first car was a Vauxhall Corsa, which is the European equivalent of like a Barina.
Was this what you were floating around Scotland in?
Yeah, that was my little hatchback in Glasgow.
Okay, now these interest me about you, these questions. What are you currently watching, if anything? Like what are you watching on TV or with your wife, streaming when you're travelling, et cetera?
At the moment we are watching, what did we just start? We actually just started a couple of shows, but we're actually re-watching a classic called Eastbound and Down. I don't know if anybody is. Eastbound and Down. I haven't seen that. It's hilarious about a failed baseball star who has to go back and work as a substitute teacher in his hometown. It's very funny.

Chapter 5: What are Jackson Irvine's favorite movies and TV shows?
My favorite movie is Lord of the Rings. Whole series. Unbelievable.
You know what? I was talking to someone about this the other day because MJ, our producer, put me on a book that I'm reading. MJ, what's that book called that they've just made the movie of? Where's he gone out there? Project Hail Mary.
Yes, I've seen it.
All right. I said to my son, mate, we have to go and see the movie. He said, it probably won't be as good as the book. Lord of the Rings, I think, is my favorite book. But they did a brilliant job on the movie. I expected to be disappointed and I absolutely loved it.
Chapter 6: What music does Jackson Irvine enjoy and share on his radio show?
Yeah, I also read the books and, of course, it's a totally different level of detail and world building but they did an absolute justification in the films. I adore them.
So have you seen Project Hail Mary, the movie?
I have, yes. Is it good? Yes, I loved it. I thought it was unbelievable. I haven't read the book though so I can't speak to that but I love the film. Excellent.
The book is superb. You need to do yourself a favour. Talking about that, give me a book. It doesn't have to change my life. Just give me a book that you enjoyed reading.
Actually, I will say, what have I read recently?

Chapter 7: What fears does Jackson Irvine have regarding memories?
I've actually just finished, well, in the summer I read a German book called While We Were Dreaming, which is about a kid growing up in Leipzig around the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It's amazing, really good.
Did you read it in English or in German?
I read it in English.
Okay, okay. I was about to say that would be very impressive. Okay, musically, now we know you've got your own radio show. Just give me a couple. I won't know any of them because I'm an old bastard now and I'm not really in German punk or techno areas, but what are you listening to?
A couple of really cool bands at the moment. One Australian band called Swap Me, who I really like at the moment, really cool, and another band from New York called Victory Land. They're my two bands of the week. They're what I've been listening to.
Okay, I like those. What, if anything, Jackson Irvine, are you scared of?

Chapter 8: Where does Jackson Irvine dream of traveling next?
It's a bit deep, but like forgetting. I have a really bad fear of like losing memories. It's like I get really paranoid. I think that's why I'm a bit of a hoarder. I collect things a lot because, yeah, you know, especially, yeah, I get paranoid that I'll forget about things, so I tend to keep them.
Talking about collecting things, you played 80 times for your country. And I mentioned in the main episode, people are going to love it next week. It's a very varied journey through football, life, art, music, and fashion that I love how it'll say Australia v. Peru, certain date on the jersey, you know, World Cup qualifier. I love that.
So if you've played for them 80 times, how many of your Socceroos tops have you still got?
I've got one from every game.
Have you really? Yep. Well, they must take a bit of room in the pool room.
Yeah, mum and dad have got a couple of big boxes at home in Melbourne, that's for sure.
That's very, very cool. Something you are good at in your mind that we wouldn't realise, like you rate yourself, it doesn't matter how minute or bizarre the skill is, you would say, yeah, I think I'm pretty good at what? I'm a decent darts player. Are you?
Really? 180?
Really?
