Today's number, $16.6 billion. That's the record amount American consumers lost to scammers and cyber criminals last year. Ed, I just don't have a joke about that, but I heard a lot of young men listen to this podcast. So I have the ultimate pickup line. You ready, Ed? You go up to someone you're attracted to and you say, can you take a picture of me? Everyone always says yes, right?
No one ever says no to that. Yep. And then you say, can you turn on the mirror function and take a picture of the two of us? And she'll say, why? And you say, because someday I'm going to show it to our kids. Boom! Ed, that's how you lose your virginity at 19. No, it isn't. Absolutely not. Well, hold on. Claire, would that work? That's a good line, no? I don't know. It depends how cute he is.
Yeah, better be very handsome. This guy better be incredibly handsome. That's a very telling comment because the difference between romance and creepiness is the perceived attractiveness of the person making the overture. And it's impossible to know, is this creepy or romantic? Scott, have you ever actually used one of these pickup lines in real life?
I think they're hilarious. I love the whole, do you believe in love in first sight or should I walk by again? I love that shit. But no, my current and hopefully future partner... 20, 21 years ago, I just went up to her at the pool of the Raleigh Hotel and I said, where are you guys from? So that wasn't much of a line. That wasn't that creative.
But I was much more handsome then, so I didn't need to be that creative. Right. I think pickup lines are more for banter. Certainly on this show. Yeah. How about you?
