Chapter 1: What are the latest updates on the Kansas City Royals?
Boom Boom June is here, Kansas City. Big, loud deals. We're turning up the volume with massive savings across all five KC locations. Boom Boom. Don't miss it. The best cannabis deals always at GreenlightDispensary.com.
Fourth quarter of the program begins right now as we finish strong here on a Tuesday. Still to come, Alex Schiffer, NBA insider from Front Office Sports. We'll break down tonight's draft and the Giannis Antetokounmpo's trade to the Miami Heat. Always love it when the Schiff man joins us. So looking forward to chatting with him. We begin with a little Royals news, and it ain't good. No.
No, don't like what we're hearing from the Kansas City Royals as the word on the street is surgery is coming to Cole Reagan's, okay?
It is. It's a surgical procedure, and it is not known necessarily what the procedure will be. McIntyre said today that they're going to get some more further, I guess, further evaluation to see what kind of procedure it will be and what the timeline will be, so... Yeah. The expectation on the left elbow is surgery.

Chapter 2: What insights does Alex Schiffer provide about the NBA Draft?
is feeling better than yesterday, but is not in the lineup for the fourth straight game at Quattro's. Hopeful that he'll be available off the bench tonight, so that would be bumping him up a little bit. Busy on the injury front as well, with more than just the Bobby news and the Cole Reagan news. They placed Mikel Garcia on the 10-day injured list with left hand muscle strain.
Left hand muscle strain, I guess. Sounds like left hand muscle strain.
You know what it sounds like to me? It sounds like somebody did voice to text and it didn't get it right.
That's what they called it. I know, but doesn't it seem like it should be left hamstring?
Chapter 3: How did the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade impact the NBA landscape?
Left hand muscle. What now? Left hand muscle? It's also a left hand muscle. It's like a hand muscle or something.
Who garbled the dictation or Siri? Get your head out. You know, that's what it sounds like to me. Yes. Left hand muscle strain. He's been dealing with the injury for a while. He returns to KC tomorrow for additional testing. No timeline on Mikel Garcia. They've recalled Josh Rojas from Omaha to take his place. The Royals are, however, coming off a win last night, 2-1.
Michael Waka outstanding again for the Royals. Cotrero said Waka showed his ability to alter his approach.
Executed, didn't throw as many change-ups tonight as other nights, but the sinker looked really good, got a lot of soft contact, and gave us an outstanding chance to win.
Yeah, I mean, that's not his main forte, right, is the sinker, but when he has it effectively and gets it in on him, you see the result, the soft contact, and then he supplements that with the high fastball, and the slider cutter was good tonight as well.
12 quality starts on the year.

Chapter 4: What are the potential implications of Jalen Brown's contract situation?
Only Christopher Sanchez, who's been brilliant, has more. He only has 13. Historically brilliant. He only has one more quality start than Waka.
The Royals getting it done with some crisp baseball, shall we say? Maybe not so much for the Rays. Matt Quattro talked about the caught stealing that ended the Rays' 8th.
Everybody knew that they were going to try to steal a bag. I mean, that's why he's in there. He got a pretty good jump. Shribes did a good job of holding, you know, being quick to the plate. Carter put it right on the money. It was obviously a huge out in the game.
Shribes was a great throw. Ball was right there waiting for him when he got there.
The Royals did not get a lot of runs against Drew Rasmussen, but they got enough. Quattrero liked how his team operated against Rasmussen.
Obviously, he's been one of the best pitchers in the league all year, and he's been on a heck of a run. So, I mean, runs were going to be at a premium against him. So, great send by Vance, scoring Massey in the first inning, or the second inning, and then manufacturing that run.

Chapter 5: How are teams preparing for the upcoming NBA Draft?
Lofton gets the hit, steals second, big hit, the walk from Collins, and then the hit from Jensen. I mean, I'd like to add more than that, but these guys are tough to score against.
Rasmussen gave up two over six, and his ERA jumped to 2.62.
Royals and Rays back at it tonight. 540 on Royals TV. Tampa minus 188. Royals plus 158. Shane McClanahan, who has stuff. Yeah. If he's healthy. He has stuff. Lewander Avila for the Royals. McClanahan versus Avila. Tampa minus 188.
Interesting to see where Avila is. His last start was quite nice. The previous start didn't make that of the first. What is he? Maybe we'll get a little peek into the direction he's going tonight.
Yeah. I just... I do love the NFL news and just... Boy, we ain't giving it up if you're Camp Sorsby. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby is not going to play in the NFL, at least according to the NFL. Not in 2026, as the league is elected not to hold a supplemental draft. The NFL's decision came down to its right to decide whether to hold a supplemental draft per the collective bargaining agreement.
League officials said they believed it would ultimately become a distraction to teams as they begin training camps. Brendan Sorsby's attorney, Jeffrey Kessler, told ESPN on the decision to not hold a supplemental draft on the NFL's decision to not hold a supplemental draft. Quote, it is a violation of the CBA and the law. We will pursue this immediately with the NFLPA. Yeah. Good luck with that.
What is the law? Like, I don't know if you know this, but y'all gave them antitrust power. They have a CBA. I mean, I'm sure what they're going to say is like, no, we have a player. It's like, well, then every year everybody can just get busted and go in there. No, they're saying he can come in. It'll be next year. Yeah. When is the when the draft? Here's a thought.
Don't screw around appealing all this crap. I mean, I think the NFL will be pretty easy. Judge. If he just recognizes it and says, okay, I'm leaving. When we had our draft process, he knew what he did. He knew it was wrong. He could have been in the last draft. We would have drafted them, whether they would or wouldn't, I don't know. But he would have been able to go through the draft process.

Chapter 6: What are the standout players to watch in the NBA Draft?
And then if he doesn't get drafted, we could have signed him as a UDFA. But he didn't. He wanted to go to Texas Tech. He wanted to get paid at Tech. And he wanted, you know, then to appeal suspensions. He... for lack of a better term, screwed around during the entire draft process. We do not have to stop our business. That's not what the supplemental draft is for.
It's for somebody to just basically make our business their sandbox. That's not how this works.
And part of their statement said the league has not conducted a supplemental draft for several years and prior to your submission, they had no plans to do so.
Your petition filed three business days before the deadline without any supporting information or documentation and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCA sanctions does not provide a basis for the league to alter those plans.
Their issues presented by your petition are too significant, too closely tied to the league's core integrity interests to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented. That was among the nicest things they said. If you could go read the NFL Council's management councils, just you gambled on the sport.
Yes. Shut your mouth and try to be a good boy for five seconds. Go to your room for five seconds. Yeah. Jeez. Talk about a guy not getting it. Kyle Pitts got three years, $54 million, $36 million guaranteed.
He's going to get it, money.
Yeah, but the Atlanta Falcons, they reached an agreement on an extension, and fantasy football owners went, really? Even I learned my lesson, Falcons. Really? If I sent Domino a text and said, scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you about this? What number is he going to hit me back with? Negative three. Negative three. Congratulations to Todd Lebo.
Here's the voice of the Sooners and friend of the program, Toby Rowland, with the final call of the Sooners winning the national championship last night.

Chapter 7: How does roster construction affect NBA team success?
I mean, that's impressive, to say the very least. Alex Schiffer is always impressive. Want to hear his thoughts on the Giannis trade and the NBA draft. Plus, what's for dinner with Schiff next? Welcome back. You're in the program here on Sports Radio 810 WHB. So Red Petro with you. Let's talk some NBA basketball.
Alex Schiffer from Front Office Sports, our NBA insider, joins us here in the program. He's brought to you by our friends at Modelo. 100 years ago, Modelo began brewing Modelo Especial, brewed with a taste that is pure gold. Perfect for hanging out at the pool or just relaxing at home. Full flavor, Pilsner-style lager. Great, crisp, refreshing taste.
And, of course, the Modelo Oro, the gold standard of light beers for light beer drinkers who appreciate flavor but don't want to compromise on quality. Get a smooth, elevated, clean, crisp taste. Only 90 calories, 3 grams of carbs. Perfect for watching the NBA draft tonight. It's the gold standard of light beer. It's Modelo Oro, brewed with a fighting spirit since 1925.
Let's welcome Alex Schiffer to the program. Alex, how are you, sir? I'm good. How are you, man? I'm doing very good. Let's start with the biggest news in the NBA. We're obviously excited about the draft to see where everybody lands, but Giannis finally has a home. It's in Miami. This was like a prominent, you know, destination. I think most people kind of thought this was it.
Then for about maybe the last four or five days, the feeling was that it was going to be Boston, that Jalen Brown was going to be too big a piece, you know, for the bucks to turn down, you know, and, and, Ultimately, we're hearing reports that they wanted more young players than just Jalen Brown out of the Celtics, and that killed it.
Is that what you're hearing, and what do you think of the deal?
Yeah, I agree with that. I guess we'll start. Yeah, I'm debating what order I want to answer the question in. Sorry. I... What do I think of the deal? It reminds me a lot of the Suns trade for Kevin Durant that I covered with the Nets in 2023 in that the Heat give up a lot of their depth and a lot of the kind of guys you need around Giannis to win to get Giannis.
I'm not Milwaukee, but I would have taken the Celtics deal just because the Bucs have no incentive to tank. First of all, there's a new lottery system that starts after tonight's draft, and then All their picks belong to the Pelicans and Trailblazers for the Damian Lillard and Drew Holiday trades, the guys they built around Giannis.
So Jalen Brown is the best piece to kind of keep you afloat and relevant given the situation. So... I would have taken Boston's deal. I understand why, you know, Tyler, he was a Milwaukee guy. There's a bit of a PR swing there and they do have some, some good players and you know, we'll see who they pick tonight with the 10th pick and what they do with this. But I thought that,

Chapter 8: What are the predictions for the future of the Heat and Knicks?
And, like, once you complain, that's who you are. Like, you're a chronic complainer. This is clearly ā you can disagree and say, well, I'd rather just try to put the pieces around them. But this is clearly a statement that they are doing a complete reboot, right?
Yeah, I think with the Jalen Brown ā yeah, so for the Bucs, yeah, I mean ā I think that the goal for them should be just to be as relevant as you can be, given the situation. And the East is wide open enough right now, at least below the top four teams, where I don't think that's that hard of a task.
The Celtics, I wonder what the fallout is from this, because to your point, they've dangled Jalen Brown before, and this to me is them admitting that they're not good enough as currently constructed. And so are other teams going to try and get Jalen Brown out of there now, given that he seems to be open for offers?
So those are the two things I'm curious about, is how relevant can Milwaukee be and how quickly post Giannis? And... what happens with Jalen Brown now?
Yeah. How easy is it for the heat who now stripped themselves of a lot of their picks, but I did think it was interesting. Kind of their first is every other year that they're giving up a 27, right? 29 and 31. If I'm not mistaken, are the, are the first that they're giving up in this deal. Um, How easy will it be? You mentioned stripping all the depth around like what you need to go with Giannis.
I mean, the Bucs were clearly they had Giannis. They couldn't win after that one championship, so they couldn't put the right pieces around him. Why would the Heat feel is Bam Adebayo that much better to say, OK, you know, we're that much further down the road and therefore we should have an easier, easier job of of of putting the right pieces around Giannis and winning?
Or is they just fall into the same category that Milwaukee was here moving forward?
Yeah, I think that he'd have a couple of things to play with free agent wise, but I mean, they are an attractive destination just based on location. They have a good culture with Spolster and Pat Riley. I think that, you know, they've already been linked to Chris Middleton, which obviously would be a nice pickup on a discount for them. And obviously it's a long history of the honest in Milwaukee.
I think that, if they can get some guys to take some discounts for a chance to contend, then they can probably put together a nice roster, you know? And again, they have been good at getting the most out of the picks. They do have, I mean, you know, Nikola Jovic wasn't in the deal. He's an intriguing player. They got him in the twenties, you know, Jaime Jaquez was in the twenties.
