A little baseball coming up this hour. Royals and Rays in the third game tonight down in Tampa. Beautiful, beautiful stadium.
So picturesque. One of the beautiful cathedrals to the game. Yes.
The Sunshine State all covered up.
It's the if you played baseball in a grain silo.
Wouldn't that be something to be something? Hey, they've been doing it for years.
They have. And the great thing about that is that fans have been flocking to Rays games in record numbers. Can't get enough of it. Cannot get enough of the Rays.
Can't get enough of it. So it's 540 tonight. You can check it out on Royals TV. The Rays are favored, but they've been favored the last two nights. Yes.

Chapter 2: What are the highlights of the Royals vs. Rays game?
Right? And minus 155, Kansas City plus 128. Noah Cameron and Griffin Jacks.
Griffin Jacks.
We'll see if Jack can get any more Jacks as Jack Caglione has gone deep. A couple of days, well, a couple last night. Five out of six? Six homers in five days? Yes. Six homers in five days. Pretty good. Pretty good. Bob Witt not in the lineup tonight. You know, we'll see. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe Chicago. Better be because they didn't put him on the injury list. So they did not do that.
Matt Quattrero here talking about Jack Caglione, and he is in some kind of groove.
I'm not so sure it's approach. I think it's more just comfort. You know, I mean, that was kind of the plan was to get him eased into facing lefties. And, you know, right now he's obviously on a good stretch regardless of whether it's righty or lefty. I mean, he's been hitting the ball exceptionally hard. I mean, that first home run, I think it was a slider, obviously demolished that ball.
I mean, we know he's got power, showing it to all fields, the line drive to left center. And equally as important, it didn't seem as big at the time, but picking a couple of those throws in the dirt from Avila when he was trying to get guys early in the game, who knows what happens if those balls get away. So he played a complete game.
So he's playing first base because Vinny Pasquartino's been hurt. He was a first baseman. Remember all the talk last year? He'd never played outfield, really, so they had to do all the work with him to get him capable of being an outfielder. He's turned into a pretty good outfielder. He's got a cannon of an arm.
I've been noticing, though, he's looking a little less impressive going and getting the ball.
Yeah, he doesn't take great routes. He's not super fast.

Chapter 3: How is Jack Caglione performing this season?
Tully puts the bunt down. They throw it away. That turns into two runs with the two-run single from Lofton after that was a huge hit. So getting to four, and then obviously Jack breaks it open at six. That inning was big. I think what we're seeing, we've talked a lot about it, functioning as a group. Not any one guy has to do it. I mean, Jack's been pounding the ball and driving it home.
runs which helps obviously but other guys are picking up little you know base hits here and there that are making it easier for us to expand 12-5 final and as expected tampa scored four runs in the last couple innings now maybe different would approach it differently whatever but still the royals have not been super clean no down the stretch so you can't score enough runs
I'm not saying his name shouldn't have been popular. It shouldn't have been a buzzword in the first part of the season. You don't hear Alex Zumwalt's name much anymore. It helps when someone like Caglione finds the stroke. By the way, I'm looking back. Last 34 games, Caglione's slash 320, 393, 600, 993. It's just a month, 34 games, but that's the best stretch. He just looks like a different guy.
Before the pitch even comes, everything just looks different for him. Comfortable. Takes a while. The problem with that is that he's been on that tear, and in those 34 games, Royals are 13-21. Yeah. They got a lot of other problems.
Yeah, they definitely do.
What if he was, you know, April or last year kegs?
Yeah. Wouldn't be good. It wouldn't be good because they've got injuries. And, you know, Cole Reagans, they say he's going to have surgery. Don't know exactly what exactly it's going to be. They're going to get in there and kind of look around a little bit. Don't expect him to pitch anymore this year for this team. And who knows when next year.
And they've got plenty of guys who have had pitching injuries. Chris Bubich is going to go out and make a rehab assignment because he hasn't pitched in a while. So they've got a lot of work to do there. But if you're looking for good things, we always say, got to squint. He's squinting. You seeing something? I don't think you need to squint at Jack Haglund right now. No eyeballs open.
He looks like a major league baseball player who's going to be certainly a plus player. If he hits like I mean, you're not going to have this pace for a week. But maybe if you have the pace you're talking about for a month. Yeah. You know, he was the sixth pick of the draft who is one of the most accomplished college baseball players there was.

Chapter 4: What challenges are the Royals facing with player injuries?
And it is a was a star in the making. And so you're seeing it now.
That's one of the reasons why I have more faith in that continuing. That's one of the big things for me is if greatness was expected of a player, when you see greatness from them, you trust it more than if a guy comes out of nowhere. It doesn't mean it's necessarily a lock, but I have a lot better feeling of Caglione continuing 847 than I did when Mikel Garcia was doing that.
When Bobby Wood does it, you think that's going to continue.
Yeah. 15th round guy who gets up. Whit Merrifield had to prove it for a long time. This was not someone who was expected. You're the sixth pick of the draft and you're not a high school kid. You're a college kid who put huge numbers up. You're like, okay, yeah, this is what it was supposed to be.
One of the biggest question marks moving forward, one of the biggest determinators, determiners, determinators? I like that word. Determinators. Sounds like someone's softball team. We hit the ball over the wall. We are the determinators. For the Royals' success over the next five to eight years, is Jack Aglione being worthy of the sixth overall pick.
So when that guy, who so much is on moving forward, is just crushing the ball on a nightly basis, that's a fantastic development in a season that looks like it's just completely lost before the All-Star break.
Yeah, for sure.
He gives you a reason to want to watch the game now. Absolutely. I'm sure a lot of folks are like, nah, well, maybe not. I wouldn't miss one of his at-bats tonight. He might hit one 500 feet.
Yeah, you absolutely will take a peek at that. Tarek Skubal, going to be back on the Hill tonight. Another thing happening. Great news for everyone. I guess. Good for him. You don't want guys to be hurt.

Chapter 5: How does the Royals' lineup change impact their performance?
It's going to be an awesome site.
Intern Thunderdome, who is our senior World Cup correspondent in-house, he's a guy we turn to for expertise. Thursday is usually his day. Yesterday he goes, it's okay if I don't come in tomorrow or Thursday? What's up? He goes, I'm going to go to this Netherlands thing. I go, dude, you have to go. If you come here, we will toss you over the bridge. Yeah, correspondent.
Tell him he's got to send some videos. Yes, yes.
Get in there. I want to see him bouncing.
Oh, yeah. In there. That would be hilarious. By the way, I'm looking at the, obviously the round of 32 games begin on Sunday. So far, the only teams that are locked in, Germany, Mexico, the United States. And now Switzerland and Canada. Argentina. That are locked into spots.
I think Switzerland and Canada are locked in now. Switzerland won the group.
Their thing doesn't show it yet.
It's the middle of the morning over there.
That's true. But, I mean, it's the official site. Let me refresh and see.
