Chapter 2: What are the latest updates on the Kansas City Royals?
Mm-hmm. Yeah, Cardinals now 40-32, Royals 30-45.
Yeah. Going to be a lot of red at the stadium tomorrow.
Oh, yeah. I think so, for sure. World Cup action. We had Congo, the Dominican Republic of Congo, right? I know it's called Congo DR, but the translation is Dominican Republic of Congo, right? Yes. First World Cup game in 52 years. They're a heavy dog to Portugal. They get the draw.
Two days after Cape Verde drew with Spain, Cristian Ronaldo held scoreless for his fifth straight match in World Cup play. It's the sixth time ever that he was held without a shot on goal. Not even a shot on goal.
Nope. Pointless effort from Ronaldo. Should be ashamed.
Yeah. I don't know. By the way, what was the score in that match?
Oh, I didn't put that on there. 1-1. No, it was ā yeah, 1-1. 0-0 was the other ā was the Cape Verde in Spain.
Yeah. England beat Croatia 4-2 behind two goals from Harry Kane. Ghana and Panama at 6. That one's in Santa Clara. You can watch it on FS1. Uzbekistan versus Colombia at 9 in Mexico City on FS1. And, again, whenever Uzbekistan and Colombia get together ā You throw a party because, you know.
I was going to say you throw out the record books, and I was waiting for that to say because there is none. There is not a record book with those two.

Chapter 3: How did the Royals perform in their recent game?
Let's do it.
By the way, I'm looking at some of the highlights of like a watch party in England. And when the goal was scored, think mosh pit. Bottles, I'm hoping plastic bottles of water flying everywhere. You know, to Danny's point about glass flying everywhere, when he was at a match, I think watching a German match, boy, you can see they're fired up. There's no doubt about it.
Kay Adams, who has her Up and Atoms show last night, said KC, I guess she's broadcasting from here. Is that the deal?
I don't know where she was, but I think she's been around some of the places. I didn't say I couldn't tell where she was.
Okay. She said Casey's number one in her book.
There are 16 host cities among the three countries. Of the 16, Kansas City is the best one. The four national teams holding their base camps in KC, Argentina, England, the Netherlands, Algeria, they're already winning. They have a leg up. It is a beautiful sports city. It's just quaint enough that there's not huge distractions, no traffic. And take a look at these practice facilities.
Every time I open up Twitter, there is some new MTV crib-style clip showing me the base camps. And Messi's living like a king. Kansas City is a perfect city for a World Cup. They know how to handle superstars. Literally the biggest global superstar, Taylor Swift, is relatively untouched when she's in KC. Three men biked the 10,500 miles it takes to get from Argentina to KC. Is that on insane?
And scores of Kansas Citians joined them for the final part of the ride to the Argentinian team hotel. What in the world? Kansas City is a sports city, the perfect host city. And I will probably be at more games in Kansas City than any other place Across the three countries. So that's my hot take. 16 host cities. Kansas City is by far the best one.
How about that? It's fantastic. I love the story of the Kansas City and it's just joining in for the bike ride with the Argentinian fans to the game or to the hotel.

Chapter 4: What impact does the World Cup have on local sports?
And were you at all moved by the match?
I did watch. And I felt... It did move me. I think it brought out some emotion. I mean, I think a lot of people know who have followed my stuff. I didn't grow up in Kansas City, but I spent the last 12, 13 seasons covering the Chiefs. I've made it my second home. And I think to see another fan base take it over, and it's very unique, right?
Like, you know, it is technically like a home game because there's so many fans. And to see them do it on the national stage and be on the walk down and, you know, where the fans usually do the chop after wins, I just thought it was really cool. It was cool to see how far Kansas City has come. And so, yeah, I think I was moved, you know, from that standpoint.
Yeah, and a piece of iconic global sports history took place in our town, in our stadium, where maybe, arguably, most people are calling him the greatest soccer player ever, had his greatest moment ever, at least his greatest singular game ever.
That, to me, is like all the books that will be written about Lionel Messi and soccer, the three goals, the hat trick, his biggest World Cup game will have happened in Kansas City.
Yeah, super cool. I mean, you know, I didn't know how the event would go. You know, I know there was mixed reactions on, you know, how much economic impact and stuff it would have. And, you know, I guess that's still up for the debate. We'll see what the numbers come in. But just from a pure event standpoint, I just thought it was very, very cool.
And yeah, I mean, Kansas City is now a very important footnote on, you know, one of the greatest soccer players of all time, for sure.
All right, and let's use that to transition to the Chiefs, who are coming off the worst season they've had under Andy Reid, the worst season with Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes coming off injury. And because we had a great moment like that here, they cut their offseason program short by a week. Should Chiefs fans be concerned?
I don't think so. I mean, the part that they cut off was the voluntary portion. And, you know, what they do in the offseason is they like to get a base It seemed to me, you know, we get two looks at the voluntary workouts. Usually it's three, it's once a week. The first week, it seemed like a regular practice where they were installing the base of the offense and the defense.

Chapter 5: What insights does Kay Adams share about Kansas City?
I know you met, you asked about worthy, who was the favorite target during these camps. But I, you know, I think it'd be really helpful for the chiefs of Royals to take some kind of step. We did see some flashes from Royals, maybe that we didn't see last year. I think, you know, everybody, everything is going to help. A lot of it is right. Like, can you, you know,
I know Sam wrote the column, but I think it's kind of how we all feel. It's like, you know, can you trust this guy to be the guy? I mean, whether or not the Chiefs are better at receiver is going to be, you know, can Rice stay out of the news for the wrong reasons? And can he be productive on the field and stay healthy?
And, you know, I think that is the direction the Chiefs want to go, and he'll make everyone better. Worthy had a great camp. I mean, he was the favorite target. He was catching, you know, almost everything that was thrown at him. But you also have to say, like, this is a non-contact camp, and he also had a non-contact jersey on.
So, I mean, you have defensive backs that are staying with him, but they're doing everything in their power just to not touch him as well. So, to me, Worthy looked more confident. certainly healthier than last year. He said that, I mean, he was honest in this camp when he came to the podium and saying, Now that injury last year really made me struggle.
Guys are always more comfortable with saying it a year later. They never want to say it during the year of. And so I think naturally that's going to help him, but it's just hard to judge. Like I said, non-contact camp or the non-contact Jersey. I'm eager to see how he does again in those padded practices when he doesn't have that Jersey on.
Yeah, no, it's like, and the tight ends are the tight ends, right? I mean, they didn't upgrade there either.
No, I mean, you know, they're banking on another productive year out of Travis Kelsey. I do think, you know, at some point, this is going to be a luxury that you're going to miss. And so you would love to acquire or, you know, draft a developmental tight end.
Like nobody's going to be necessarily a Hall of Famer in Travis Kelsey, but God, that's such a luxury in the NFL to have a Bowers, to have a Kittle, you know, and some of his better, I'm just naming names, but Pitts for, you know, just a dynamic tight end. So banking on Kelsey being able to do one more time, but they're going to miss that in 27.
You know, there's nobody really like Kelsey on the current roster. I mean, Noah Gray has had his moments, but again, I think, At some point, and maybe this is a conversation for next offseason, you would love to have someone like, you know, not exactly, but someone like Kelsey in the building that's going to be a weapon for you at that position.
