Chapter 1: Who is Amber Tuccaro and what happened to her?
look just because she's not where you think she should be there's all sorts of places she might be so how do we know she's missing i mean that's going to happen and it's one of those things that makes it so much harder to solve a case so while she's at this woman's shelter unity house she meets a woman named evangeline and the pair become fast friends i can imagine it must be a lonely life being 20 years old
having a 14-month-old son, having to be the sole breadwinner. And she finds a friend to kind of share these burdens with, be able to live life with. And they hit it off really quickly. And in August of 2010, even though they were new friends, they decided to take a spontaneous trip to Edmonton.
Now, Amber's mother, Tootsie, had some hesitations about Amber going on this trip so last minute with someone she didn't know that well. But Amber reassured her that everything would be fine.
amber works hard all the time she just wanted a girl's weekend away with a friend and i i can certainly understand that you know a quick trip it's more affordable when you get to go with a friend and you get to just blow off some steam and kind of forget the day in and day out drudgery of work and child care but she does bring her son with her so evangeline amber and jacob get on a flight to edmonton on august 17 2010.
They'd made reservations at a hotel outside of the city of Nisku, Alberta, and they arrived to Edmonton without incident. It was a pretty easy trip up there, and they're excited to just get away for the weekend. Sadly, Amber would never return home from this trip. 14 years later, this case is still unsolved and Amber's killer has never been brought to justice.
Jacob is a teenager now, probably does not remember his mother and does not know what happened to his mother.
And I know what you're thinking, and it's the same thing I was thinking, and it was the same thing Alice was thinking. If you don't know this story and all the facts you've heard so far are the ones we've given you, you're thinking Evangeline is involved in this. I mean, that is the first thing that comes to mind. It's like, well, it's obvious who did this.
It's the, you know, should have listened to mom. It's the friend she barely knew. Spoiler alert, that is not going to be the case. There's some chilling facts about this case that pretty clearly...
demonstrate that Evangeline is not involved and that in fact there was nothing really nefarious about this trip it really was just a two friends who became friends very quickly who were going to just take a weekend to themselves to go off have a little fun and come back something that anyone should be able to do without having to worry about violence descending upon them but unfortunately that's not what we're going to see here so let's look at the timeline

Chapter 3: How did Amber use a recorded line to communicate her situation?
And I will say this, it is both shocking and a really sad statement about things, about how often people are convinced that one of their parents or a close family member, a brother, a son, committed a crime. You see this all the time. You will often see... people call the police and say, hey, I just saw this case. I feel like my dad could do that.
We have had people reach out to us about unsolved cases and say, hey, I think my dad might have done this. And we have talked to them. We've directed them to the appropriate authorities. So far, I don't know that any of those tips have borne out. But it is not something that's that unusual. So while it would be nice to think maybe this is the lead that's going to solve the case,
I think probably at the end of the day, it won't be. Which brings us to theories of this case. I think the one thing we can say here that is pretty obvious, it is highly likely that Amber was killed by whomever picked her up hitchhiking that evening. I guess it's possible that when she yelled at them, they let her out of the truck and then somebody else came along and killed her.
I think that is highly unlikely. So if we figure out who this person is, if we figure out whose voice that is, we can find this killer. Now, one thing people always speculate about when you see a situation like this is, is a serial killer. Yes, it seems unlikely that you're just going to happen to get into the car with a serial killer.
But as we pointed out multiple times, that's exactly what has happened to many women who've gotten into the car with the wrong person, whether it's Ted Bundy or someone like this or someone on the highway of tears. And the thing about hitchhiking I almost feel like if we had a more pro-hitchhiking society, it would be safer.
Because I feel like at this point, if someone picks you up... I'm saying this as someone who's picked up a hitchhiker before, but that probably says something about them.
Confessions of a hitchhike serial killer right here.
Maybe they'll be me, but I think more likely, and they'll take you exactly where you said, and hopefully you're not the killer. It's the old joke. Somebody picks up a hitchhiker, and the driver says... You know, I can't believe you just get into my car and I could be a serial killer. And the passenger says, what are the chances there'd be two serial killers in the same car?
So you never know who the who the killer is going to be. Right. But you probably if you get into a car, if you're hitchhiking these days, there's going to be at least some questions about that. Who's picking you up? And, in fact, it seems like there may be a serial killer operating in this area.
