This is Ep. 1 of SHEA's three-part series, Updates from the SHEA SSI Compendium. This episode focuses on Pre-operative Recommendations for Patients with Beta-Lactam Allergy Labels. Speakers will discuss the pre-operative interventions suggested in the SHEA SSI Compendium of Strategies update, as well as the role of beta-lactam allergy assessment for patients undergoing surgery, as vancomycin use is no longer recommended for routine use. Speakers will also talk about how to educate both surgical and anesthesia providers and patients about the implications of beta-lactam allergy labels.
