38. Ditch the 5 Year Plan for an Impact Driven Business with Jess Ekstrom

19 May 2021

Description

Jess Ekstrom is the founder and CEO of Headbands of Hope, a company that donates headbands to kids with cancer with every headband sold. Headbands of Hope has been featured on the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, QVC, The View and worn by celebrities like Kelsea Ballerini and Khloe Kardashian. More importantly, Headbands of Hope has donated over 600k headbands, reaching every single children's hospital in America and 22 countries. Jess is also the bestselling author of Chasing the Bright Side and creator of Mic Drop Workshop, an online course and community for women to become paid keynote speakers. Jess lives and travels full-time in her Airstream with her husband, Jake, and their 70 lb dog, Ollie. In today's episode I'm with my fellow yellow girl, Jess Ekstrom. Jess shares her inspiring story about starting Headbands for Hope and how it led to her becoming a speaker, writer, and founder of Bright Pages. We also chat about why she's not a fan of the 5 year plan, letting go of "founder syndrome", learning to be patient with business growth, the many positives of virtual events, her 4 criteria for booking a speaking gig, what surprised her about recording her audiobook, and her journey of living in an Airstream. I loved this conversation and I know you will too! SHOW NOTES Join the Course Waitlist!
