Chapter 1: What is Damo's new nickname and how did it come about?
This is the Sounding Board Podcast with Hutchie and Damo. Thanks to Drinkwise. If you're choosing to have a drink, choose to Drinkwise.
Question time on the Sounding Board for Drinkwise. If you're choosing to drink, choose to Drinkwise. Let's go straight to Facebook. Hamish poses this. Thoughts on the chief executive of the NRL stepping down. Who will Peter Vlandy look to poach for the role? Most probably go around the NRL clubs, I think, but you wouldn't be surprised if you found someone from the outside.
And you gave, on the main body, Hamish, Hutchie gave, on the main body, Hamish, a...
chance to gillan lachlan being considered you did you said a chance between what percentage oh no he'd be considered it wouldn't be more than considered if he wanted to do the job he'd be impossible to beat but it won't uh he won't do it yep we'll stick with facebook for a moment josh and i probably shouldn't have and given i now see where this is going as a regular triple m listener what are your thoughts on someone brackets brownie telling stories that he told on friday and repeating them on sunday
He still thinks he's doing a sportsman's night, Nathan. There's only 40 people in the room when he tells the story. He'll tell another 40 the next night.

Chapter 2: What are the implications of TV shows being repurposed for podcasts?
He's one of the great repeat storytellers of modern times. I think he probably hasn't got enough stories to go around. He makes me laugh, that man. He still makes me laugh. David, on X, who hates which media outlet more, Damo and the Herald Sun or Hutchie and the ABC? Definitely Hutchie and the ABC, David. No, Damo. I've cooled. I love the Herald Sun. I've warmed with the Herald Sun, haven't I?
No. Maybe not. Lenny says this on X. Have there been any repercussions from Damo casting aspersions about Channel 7 having to pay for interviews from a Triple M radio booth owned by the same company? Casting aspersions? I state it as fact.
Chapter 3: What is the latest update on Tasmania's stadium situation?
There's no casting aspersions. And no, there hasn't. And again, Lenny, I know you asked that question. It's a valid question. Hutchie raised something late in the main body of the sounding board, which I was hoping would slide through for another week or two, but he managed to find it.
I have not personally been told by anyone to back off on either platform, Hutchie, and I will continue to do what I do without it hopefully being gratuitous. Until you don't. You think I'll be having that conversation with someone soon? I've got our sounding board family on watch, demo, two-network demo watch.
Well, I think the most recent thing I did, Hutchie, was as extreme as I've ever done, so I'm coming off a – a position where that is the most recent aspect of it. I'm not reading that next question, Hutchie, because I can see that word that I giggle at. We need a name for Damo on the dial, like two network Damo, two station warrior. I'm asking the... Two station warrior is good.
Two station warrior? We're asking... 16, maybe? Seven and nine? Your best nickname for Damo that you got, we'll take, hashtag, what's the hashtag you want, Dudley, for this on socials? Uh, just hashtag sounding board will be fine. Yeah.
And seeing you, you're doing this in question, Tom, and not the main body of the standing board, set it up again, just quickly for those who had no idea what you're talking about. I'll give you 20 seconds. What about candles? 16 candles, seven and nine. Bit of a stretch. Yep. What do you ask people to do? I'll give you 20 seconds. Go.
Damo is now on seven plus on the weekends with the Saturday rub, where he's a key figure on the show.

Chapter 4: How are team selections impacting current sports discussions?
So you can watch him on Saturday on seven plus and Sundays on nine, which has never happened in the 70 year history of Australian television. Even Bruce Gingell couldn't get on both networks. Burt Newton couldn't do it at his peak. Damo's done it. You're an idiot. Brad on email.
Recently on the scorecard, there was a question about James Bracey's blow-up on air, and you both said that it would be tabled for discussion on the main body next week about James being a board member of the Perth Bears. But alas, tuning in the week after it wasn't tabled. Can we blame someone else for this? No, we'll get to that next week. Can we blame Double? It was on the rundown.
It was on the rundown. Hands up. We'll cut that up next week and do it properly next week. Sorry, Brad. And sorry for blaming you. James Bracey is very glass jaw worthy for me. Oh. Yeah. Is he? Like, if you're getting in a blow up about, you're taking your first direct ship on and you're getting in a punch on or something like that. All right. We'll show. Sorry, Brad.
Sorry, Brad, and sorry, Dudley. We'll definitely get to that next week. Mick on X, I'm reading questions I should read before I actually read them, Hutchie, if that makes sense. Mick on X, do we need Bevo to have a crack at Damo and or Korn? For them so that they can unite once again.
Chapter 5: What are the media dynamics between Damo and Hutchie regarding their favorite outlets?
No, we don't. We'll move on. Simon on email. With most good radio shows now being filmed and cast on visual mediums, why are we still seeing so few TV programs simulcast on radio and edited for podcasts? I'm just leaving myself open here, Hutchie, reading these things. I'm aware that AFL 360 does it, but that's about the only one I can find.
I'd love to consume shows like Agenda Setters, the Sunday footy show, and Footy Classified as a podcast on my daily commute. The Agenda Setters is going well on podcasts online. I believe it's on listening like Damo's platform. It's definitely on Spotify and Apple and other platforms. Footy Classified is as well. And Footy Classified has always been a pod. Yeah. Yeah.
It's just how you consume, isn't it? Yeah. With the franchise Monday night TV shows, they probably haven't crossed over on the same scale yet into podcasts in terms of consumption. And I think that's because everyone watches them on a Monday. Yep. But they are podcasts. Don't worry about that. Yep. I can see my name being retched again. Hutch, you may as well read this one out.
I'm competent here today. This is Nick. Yep. In honour of the great Mike Sheehan's iconic top 50 list, could we have the future Hall of Fame journo, Damo, rank his favourite of his many sayings? Some obvious choices, no doubt, will be in this space. I raise all that because in the AFL system, refer you to the main body.
Chapter 6: What are the repercussions of Damo's comments on Channel 7?
I definitely say that one. I would add a couple, Nick Park until next week. Am I guilty of those? I definitely say refer you to the main body. I reckon I do say... I think I say AFL industry more than system, but I'll concede Nick might be right. You did run over a lot of this. You play the grass hits a lot. What else? Of your sayings. Oh, there's a million of them. Do you want to do them next?
I'll point them out as they come. We'll park it. I'll get some pics done. You'll be able to see it on Channel 7 platforms now too, won't you? Lee on X. Look at this dynamic change. What's Hutchie's view on the latest with Tasmania? Stadium pushback going to be even pricier. Where's the extra money going to come from? Should they play three to four seasons at Belle Reve? How's this shaping up?
Seems precarious. It'll happen. It'll be later. I don't think the venue will be built anywhere near in time. The High Performance Centre is already well behind schedule. It's way behind schedule already.
Yep.
This is directed at you, Hutchie, I think.

Chapter 7: How do coaches use misinformation to manage team leaks?
Anthony on email. I really enjoy the program, but please be fair and even in political commentary. The Victorian treasurer may have no economic or financial qualifications, but nor did one of our longest serving federal treasurers, Peter Costello. It's a very good point that Anthony raises, and I think you've been harsh. I haven't criticised the Victorian treasurer. You have. Yeah, I might have.
Yep. It's a good point Anthony raises. They're all the same. One more. Yeah, if you want. Read on email. One of the great activities for rugby league newshounds is trying to break news about the state of origin squads before they're officially announced. There's always a lot of predicted squad lists and, quote, leaks that never truly amount to much.
Last Sunday, there was a rumour that Queensland coach Billy Slater was considering selecting Caelan Ponga out of position at half-back. Eventually, Ponga was selected at his usual position at full-back as it became apparent that perhaps Billy Slater had planted this deliberately incorrect info to expose a potential leaker. Yeah.
How common is this practice and do any examples of this come to mind? Yeah, it's a great theme. It's a great question. Yeah. The cheeky lie to leak to see who you can trust is an old tactic of wily old coaches. So it's not new. Great to see Billy Slater attempted it if that's what happened. More broadly, the speculation around who gets picked is a, is a, we talk about this theme of journalism.
It's a sport itself, isn't it? Yeah. If you know the subject, like one of the hard things about journalism, you don't know what could happen today or tomorrow, but you know, someone's gonna get picked in origin. So it's a known subject of journalism.

Chapter 8: What are the challenges of aligning media announcements in sports?
I saw that the Today Show and NRL tried to orchestrate the announcements of the teams on that platform. Oh yeah. And it fell down because the states who have disproportionate power, like the QRL and the NSWRL actually own Origin, not the NRL, and they couldn't align on what it meant for players and recovery and time from Sunday's game.
And so in the end, what should have happened was to serve the broadcaster. Yeah. Okay. I wasn't aware of that backstory. So there you go. Yep. There you go. That was question time. You better, Damo will give you more of that on seven and nine this weekend. Simultaneously. That was question time on the sounding board for Drinkwise. If you're choosing to drink, choose to Drinkwise.
